"Top-Notch" Fully Motorized Record Cleaning Machine with Double-Sided LP Cleaning and Selectable Forward / Reverse Rotation

The new Record Doctor X is the lowest priced record cleaning machine on the planet to offer high-performance features previously found only on expensive machines.

It's the latest, greatest, most convenient to use Record Doctor vacuum-powered record cleaning machine yet and offers fully motorized double-sided LP cleaning along with plenty of other features.

"Cleaning Records Has Never Been Easier"

"Cleaning vinyl records has never been easier!" raves Rick Coste, The Joy of Vinyl Records, YouTube, April 12, 2024. "Not only is this an automatic solution where it spins the record itself, but it actually cleans both sides at the same time, which is huge. That is a quantum leap in design…"

"This is such a time saver that the concern I have about cleaning a few records at a time is gone… Maybe 60% of my time is saved by using the Record Doctor X when it comes to cleaning records… And the other thing I'm impressed with is how well this thing cleans."

    "The Best, Cleanest Playback"

"I was quite impressed by the Record Doctor X vacuum record cleaning machine’s level of performance. The RDX cleaned a wide swath of my some clean-ish, some pristine-ish, and some grimy-ish LPs as prescribed, time and again," reports Mike Mettler, analogplanet.com, February 1, 2024. "The bottom line is, the Record Doctor X vacuum record cleaning machine is a top-notch way to get your records ready for the best, cleanest playback they - and you - deserve."

"For its convenience, ease of use, affordability, and excellent cleansing properties, I give the Record Doctor X a 'Thumbs Up," notes Juan C. Ayllon in his April 20, 2024 review for positive-feedback.com,. "If you need an excellent and economically-priced record-cleaning device, it's a tool worthy of your consideration."

"A Simple, Effective, Valuable and Affordable Improvement"

"This is a simple, effective, valuable and affordable improvement for many vinyl lovers," notes The Absolute Sound magazine's Tom Martin In his March 30, 2024 video review for YouTube.

"I went through my library and selected LPs that were over 50 years old and that I knew I hadn't played since the 1980s… These are LPs that never received the record cleaning treatment… I listened to each LP before and after cleaning with the Record Doctor X… On some of my LPs the cleaning made the sound smoother and, sorry, but cleaner sounding. Santana's amazing guitar on 'Black Magic Woman,' for example, had a fuzzy edge removed… Another thing I noticed is that microdynamics and overtones and reverb were all slightly more real sounding."

"Made the Discs Quieter Than My Other Methods"

In his March 24, 2024 review for Michael Fremer's Tracking Angle website, Evan Toth says, "For listeners - like myself - who may have been content with a simpler approach to clearing their records, the Record Doctor X is a wise next step on that journey to cleanliness… In my use, the cleaner did a better job of making the discs quieter than my other methods. There was also what I believe was a notable reduction in static electricity in both feel and sound."

Thoroughly Clean Your LPs Faster Than Ever Before

If you've been hesitating about buying a record cleaning machine because you're thinking they take too much time to use, the new Record Doctor X is for you. It saves you time by cleaning both sides of an LP at once. No flipping the LP over after doing just one side with Record Doctor X. And the powerful bi-directional rotation motor cleans your record in forward or reverse with the flip of the switch for the deepest, most thorough cleaning.

It’s fast, too! Record Doctor X takes just two rotations in both directions to vacuum away the dust, dirt, and grime that stands between you and the music in the grooves, thanks to the most powerful vacuum engine in its price class and beyond.

Special Turning Motor and LP Clamp

The turning motor of the Record Doctor X is very special. It is large, speed-optimized, high torque motor that uses a direct drive design and therefore doesn't require gears that would complicate the mechanism. Benefits of this design include steady torque and exceptional reliability.

Also special is the included clamp, which secures the LP to the platter of the Record Doctor X. The clamp is full-size with a protective gasket that protects the label from fluid during record cleaning.

    Compact, Space-Saving Design

And if you're also thinking you don’t have the space for a fully motorized record cleaning machine that’s packed with so many features, this isn't the case with the Record Doctor X. It’s the most compact vacuum powered record cleaning machine you’ll find anywhere. It’s easy to tuck away or to keep near your hi-fi gear for everyday use.

Includes Record Doctor Goat Hair Brush

And here’s a great Record Doctor X bonus. Included is a $29.95 Record Doctor Goat Hair Brush. Two rows of hundreds of all-natural goat hair bristles (instead of synthetic cleaning bristles) provide safe, deep cleaning of record grooves. It’s perfect for spreading cleaning fluid, and the goat hair bristles are naturally anti-static.

In addition to using the Goat Hair Brush with your Record Doctor X, it's also perfect for a final 'dry cleaning' touch-up before LP playback while your record is on the turntable.

Quick, Easy, and Safe to Use

Record Doctor X is quick and easy to use. With its Goat Hair Brush, soft sweeper strips, and specially formulated record cleaning fluid, this machine is safe for all your LPs. A clean LP lets you hear the music you’ve been missing. It helps prolong the life of your LPs and maintain their value. The included Record Doctor RxLP cleaning solution is a non-alcohol industrial-grade cleaner safe for all vinyl records.

    Hear What You've Been Missing!

Vacuum cleaning your records with the Record Doctor X lets you hear the music you've been missing. Cleaner records sound better than dirty records. With a clean LP, your record stylus reproduces the music the way the artist intended it to sound – instead of plaguing you with clicks, pops, surface noise, and distortion.

"I cleaned a few not previously cleaned records including an old Westminster stereo Brandenburg Concertos Numbers 3&4 (WST 14115) with Hermann Scherchen conducting members of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra," notes Michael Fremer in his January 2, 2020 AnalogPlanet.com Record Doctor review. "After cleaning both sides, the record played with not a single pop or click nor was any residue left on the Ortofon Anna D stylus, nor was any residue visible on the record surface."

    Protect Your Vinyl Investment

It just makes sense that clean, well-cared-for records are worth more than dirty, poor sounding discs. Protect your valuable vinyl investment with the Record Doctor X. Vinyl discs can become so dirty that they are virtually unplayable. According to Gerald L. Gibson, Head of the Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division of the Library of Congress, "Dust can become embedded permanently into the disc's grooves, causing distortion of the transmitting signal, ticks, pops, and inferior sound quality."

If you enjoy listening to vinyl, you can hardly afford not to get a Record Doctor X vacuum-powered record cleaner. It not only cleans your records, but it can also help prolong their life by keeping them free of dust, dirt, and grime.

How Often Should You Clean Your Records?

"It is recommended that [vinyl] discs be cleaned before – and after – each playback," notes Gerald L. Gibson, Head of the Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division of the Library of Congress, 1991.

Clean the records you already own plus any used LPs you find. But you need to clean brand new records, too, because LPs come from the factory with dust and extraneous bits of vinyl in the grooves.

How the Record Doctor X Came to Be

Audio Advisor President Wayne Schuurman shares his story and insights about the development of the groundbreaking Record Doctor X record cleaning machine.

When I took a peek inside the Record Doctor VI for servicing, I was struck by the size of the vacuum motor.

I turned to Ron, our service technician, and said, "Hey, that's a really big motor."

Ron nodded. "Yes, it is. It's about 50% more powerful than any of the LP cleaning machines we usually service."

That got me thinking. I wondered if the oversized cleaning motor could handle not just one side but both sides of an LP. After examining the cabinet, I realized there was space for an additional suction arm, similar to ones I'd seen on other LP cleaning machines. It would have to be a swing-arm, but that seemed doable.

I presented the idea to our product managers and then to the factory. Their response was, "We'll see what we can do."

Fast forward six months, and the factory came back with a positive answer. "Yes, we can give you what you want. We don't have to change the cabinet at all. Everything fits inside, and it won't overheat. The LPs come out very, very clean."

Taking the Design a Step Further with Bi-directional Cleaning

During those six months, I kept mulling over the project. Having tried out some of the best LP cleaning machines over my 40+ years in the audio business, I knew that the top ones offered bi-directional cleaning. They spun the LP in one direction for a few turns and then, for extra cleaning, spun and cleaned in the reverse direction. The LPs always came out remarkably clean.

Wanting to take the design a step further, I asked the factory, "Can you add a switch so we can clean in both directions?"

They told me, "Yes, we don't think that will be difficult to do." However, I didn't hear from them for another three months.

When they finally got back to me, they said, "We have what you want now. Would you like a sample?"

Excited, I told them, "Don't send me just one. Send me three samples." I wanted multiple experts to test the machine.

A few months later, I received the samples and distributed them for testing across the country. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. "Quieter than the model VI," was the first comment. "Cleans faster and better than the original," was another. "Excellent performance," said the beta tester I trusted the most, and, "I couldn't ask more from an LP cleaning machine."

The Final Improvement: A Higher Torque Motor

The feedback made me happy, but there was something nagging at the back of my mind. When I personally tested the machine with the suction arm down, the platter didn't always start spinning right away. I went back to the factory, suggesting, "I think we need a higher torque motor," and I explained my reason why.

Once again, no word from the factory for six months. Just when I was about to give up, they contacted me.

"We found a better motor," they said. "It has the higher torque you wanted, and it's a direct drive – so there are no belts or gears that can slip or break." Then they added, "One more thing. We ran tests with the new motor and found that at 4-5 revolutions per minute, the machine cleans better than any other speed, so we set the motor to rotate at that rate."

"Fantastic," I exclaimed. "How soon can you send me three samples?"

A short time later, we received the samples and ran them through all our tests. The machine's performance was outstanding, and the motor spun the LPs smoothly and consistently. During my tests, I realized they were right. With even suction coming from both the top and bottom, the LP became sparkling clean in just one or two rotations.

I had never seen an LP become so clean so quickly. I immediately told the factory to start making RDXs.

I hope you enjoy your Record Doctor X half as much as we do. It’s an amazing LP cleaner.

"Cleaning vinyl records has never been easier!"

"Not only is this an automatic solution where it spins the record itself, but it actually cleans both sides at the same time, which is huge. That is a quantum leap in design…"

"The Record Doctor X is designed to be a one-and-done solution, and it is… And the other thing I'm impressed with is how well this thing cleans. I've always thought the Record Doctor VI was one of the better ones out there, because it always cleaned well and didn't leave and residue. The X appears to be just as powerful, if not more so. There is no residue left, and once an LP is cleaned, I can slip it immediately into a protective sleeve."

"This is such a time saver that the concern I have about cleaning a few records at a time is gone… Maybe 60% of my time is saved by using the Record Doctor X when it comes to cleaning records."

"I'm extremely impressed with the Record Doctor X over any solution I've seen so far, that I've had experience with. It gets all of the fluid, the cleaning solution, off the record."

"For its convenience, ease of use, affordability, and excellent cleansing properties, I give the Record Doctor X a "Thumbs Up"! Pangea Audio has picked another winner to add to its stable of high-performance, high-value audio accessories. If you need an excellent and economically-priced record-cleaning device, it's a tool worthy of your consideration."

"My scratchy copy of Donavan's Sunshine Superman album that I picked up used at an audio shop sounded recognizable, but tinny and pretty bad with its frequent clicks and pops. Were it not for the sentimental attachment to that long-lost album of youth, I'd have probably tossed it and stuck to streaming it on Qobuz. No doubt, the fidelity wasn't the greatest with this pop recording, however, after cleaning it with the Record Doctor X, I was surprised at the improvement! The vocals sounded a touch warmer, the noise floor lowered a smidgen, and it sounded more like a live performance than staticky AM radio."

"This is a simple, effective, valuable and affordable improvement for many vinyl lovers."

"The operation of the record Doctor X is simplicity itself… The vacuum action was impressive in returning LP’s to a completely dry state."

If one used the Spin-Clean to get rid of a disc’s deeper and dirtier dirt, then the Record Doctor X would serve as an excellent second phase ensuring that anything untoward was removed from the record’s grooves."
