"Smooth Operation, Sleek Looks, and Constantly Robust Playback"
The Audiolab 6000CDT is a dedicated CD transport incorporating the same slot-loading mechanism as Audiolab’s flagship CD player, the 8300CD. Extremely robust and reliable, it uses a read-ahead digital buffer to reduce disc-reading failures, which contributes to its ability to play scratched and damaged CDs that are unreadable by conventional drive/transport mechanisms.
The 6000CDT is the obvious partner for a high quality DAC if you're looking for no-compromise performance and a brand new level of excitement from your compact discs.
"If you are seeking to move to a dedicated CD transport you should definitely audition the 6000CDT for its smooth operation, sleek looks, and constantly robust playback," notes Alan McIntosh at hifipig.com, which honored the 6000CDT with a Outstanding Product Award. "Designed well, solid unit, high-quality materials and strong aesthetics."
Slot-Loading CD Mechanism
Audiolab's extensive research and development found that previous tray-style mechanisms sometimes produced a rare weak spot. The 6000CDT sports a mechanism that includes slot loading – much quicker and neater than the old tray.
The new mechanism also reduces the occurrence of disc rejection and is able to play CDs that other CD players may reject for being imperfect from dirt or damage. A final benefit is increased disc stability and reduced susceptibility to resonance, which additionally contributes to the overall improved sound quality. The 6000CDT's digital clock is controlled by a high stable crystal oscillator to ensure the optical and coaxial outputs have minimal jitter.
The simple, well-designed front panel controls complement the sleek aesthetics and make it not only easy but exceptionally convenient to operate this superb disc transport. As an alternative, a well-made wireless remote is also included, as is a detachable IEC AC power cord.
