The Pure Silver Cable Lets Your Amp "Open Up and Sing"

If you've been thinking of choosing a bi-wire cable to squeeze the ultimate fidelity from your high-end hi-fi components or premium home theater system, think again. Analysis Plus Silver Oval Speaker Cable offers the same sonic benefits as many bi-wire cables, but without the high cost and complex connection hassle.

Big Silver Oval was honored by being included in The Absolute Sound 2012 High-End Audio Buyer's Guide. According to the magazine, "Brimming with resolution, tonal honesty, and dynamic life, constructed of pure silver over a stabilizing strand of OFC woven into AP's patented hollow-oval geometry in an oval-coaxial configuration, this is not a cable you listen to, but rather listen through. Music simply flows…"

"The most obvious difference with these speaker cables is the opening up of the top end," marvels Doug Blackburn in the December 2001 issue of SoundStage!. "Some cables seemingly roll off the upper frequencies with my Blue Circle BC2 mono amps in use. The Silver Ovals don’t. In fact, they allow my BC2 amps to open up and really sing. Highs are pristine and extended, and the bottom end is also very strong."

Stereo Times has a similar high opinion Silver Oval. "The differences wrought in my system by the addition of the Analysis Plus Silver Oval cables and interconnects are positive, dramatic and immediately apparent - quite an achievement when you stop to consider that I already use a reference-caliber product," says Clement Perry in the May 2000 issue.

    Revolutionary Hollow Oval Design

Analysis Plus is uniquely qualified as an authority on speaker cable design. The Detroit-based company earned its reputation testing and analyzing cables for leading cable manufacturers whose names you'd recognize in a flash. After examining the best, Analysis Plus decided it could do even better by developing its own proprietary hollow-oval conductor design.

Why the unique conductor geometry? Mark Markel and Qinwei Sun, the chief engineers at Analysis Plus, determined that round cable used in conventional speaker cable designs has high levels of current bunching, skin effect phenomenon, and other frequency characteristics that degrade signal quality. Rectangular conductors were a little better, but these suffered high electric field values caused by sharp corners which can also cut into and injure the dielectric when the cable is flexed.

After many computer simulations, Analysis Plus found that a hollow oval cable was the best design due to its minimal change in resistance with frequency, plus other benefits. The company chose a flexible, braided conductor rather than the conventional solid conductor, which is susceptible to kinks and deformations with resulting signal degradation. A unique woven pattern places every wire statistically as close to the return current as every other wire for evenly distributed high-current density and superior sound.

Meticulously constructed using a patent-pending woven design, Silver Oval Speaker Cable is made by layering pure silver over a stabilizer strand of high-purity OFC oxygen free copper, which is then woven into a 12-gauge hollow oval conductor. The Silver Oval Cable is then combined with a computer matched dielectric and is shielded against EMI and other interference for ultra-quiet, noise-free performance. Instruments emerge out of a silent background. Depth and detail are exquisite.

    "Resolution is Top Notch"

"Highs are pristine and extended, and the bottom end is also very strong," observes SoundStage!. "Resolution is top-notch."

Due to its unique geometry, each Silver Oval speaker cable requires handcrafted termination requiring an hour of work on each cable. The Silver Oval speaker cable is factory terminated with Analysis Plus' exclusive silver-plated T-1 spade lugs milled from a single block of copper.

"Internal Bi-wire", aka IBW, means the cable has one set of connections (+/-) on the amp end, but two sets of connections on the speaker end. This configuration is recommended for loudspeakers set up for bi-wiring. If your speakers are not set up for bi-wiring you should not purchase cables terminated this way.

If you don't see a cable configuration you want call us. We'll have it made for you.

The Absolute Sound High-End Audio Buyer's Guide 2020

"Brimming with resolution, tonal honesty, and dynamic life, constructed of pure silver over a stabilizing strand of OFC woven into AP's patented hollow-oval geometry in an oval-coaxial configuration, this is not a cable you listen to, but rather listen through. Music simply flows; tonality is earthy; harmonics align; images and soundstage conform. No snake oil here–the high end needs more of this level of honest performance at a reasonable price."

2019 Editors' Choice Award – The Absolute Sound

"The Big Silver Oval speaker cable brims with resolution and dynamic life."

"...this is a cable you don’t listen to, but rather listen through. Recorded music simply flows in an earthy and tonally authentic manner. Harmonics align; images and soundstage conform with no serious sonic missteps. And its real-world affordable."

    - The Absolute Sound, March 2019

"The differences wrought in my system by the addition of the Analysis Plus Silver Oval cables and interconnects are positive, dramatic and immediately apparent - quite an achievement when you stop to consider that I already use a reference-caliber product ..."

"The AP produced, to my amazement, greater inner detail as a direct result of its more natural, thus superior, dimensionality. The sound of Hargrove's muted trumpet - rather its intricacies - the sound of air moving through the horn gave it greater presence and spatial localization. The same is true of Keith Jarrett. Here, with Jack DeJohnette's delicate cymbal work, the initial snap and resonance from Gary Peacock's double bass, could not better illustrate these cables' superiority. I can't recommend the Analysis Plus Silver Oval more highly."

"The Analysis Plus Silver Oval makes my system sound more real. These cables have taken my system closer to the Absolute Sound."

    - Clement Perry, Stereo Times, May 2000

"The most obvious difference with these speaker cables is the opening up of the top end. Some cables seemingly roll off the upper frequencies with my Blue Circle BC2 mono amps in use. The Silver Ovals don’t. In fact, they allow my BC2 amps to open up and really sing. Highs are pristine and extended, and the bottom end is also very strong."

"The difference isn’t as obvious as the upper frequencies, but in comparison with other cables, it is still noticeable. Resolution is top-notch. This can perhaps be attributed to the high-frequency performance - a more open top end can result in a perception of greater detail, but whatever the case, the result is the same, and I tend to slide the Analysis Plus cables into my system whenever I am reviewing a high-resolution minimonitor in order to hear all it can do."

"Another phenomenon I noticed was perceived greater volume - nothing drastic, but there consistently seemed to be more sound there."
