Analysis Plus is uniquely qualified as an authority on speaker cable design. The Detroit-based company earned its reputation testing and analyzing cables for leading cable manufacturers whose names you'd recognize in a flash. After examining the best, Analysis Plus decided it could do even better by developing its own proprietary hollow-oval conductor design.

Why the unique conductor geometry? Mark Markel and Qinwei Sun, the chief engineers at Analysis Plus, determined that round cable used in conventional speaker cable designs has high levels of current bunching, skin effect phenomenon, and other frequency characteristics that degrade signal quality. Rectangular conductors were a little better, but these suffered high electric field values caused by sharp corners which can also cut into and injure the dielectric when the cable is flexed. After many computer simulations, Analysis Plus found that a hollow oval cable was the best design due to its minimal change in resistance with frequency, plus other benefits. The company chose a flexible, braided conductor rather than the conventional solid conductor, which is susceptible to kinks and deformations with resulting signal degradation. A unique woven pattern places every wire statistically as close to the return current as every other wire for evenly distributed high-current density and superior sound.

Oval Twelve speaker cable from Analysis Plus is a 12-gauge cable constructed using the company's exclusive hollow oval cross-section conductor array. Oval Twelve offers 90% of the sonic benefits of the company's acclaimed Oval Nine cable, but at a much lower price.

Oval Twelve incorporates a patent-pending woven design in which every conductor wire is statistically as close to the return current as every other wire. The result is evenly distributed current density that adds up to better signal transfer than conventional solid-conductor cable designs.

Oval Twelve is handcrafted with special high-purity oxygen free copper combined with a computer-matched dielectric to give the best possible performance. Oval Twelve is factory terminated with crimped-on 1/4" gold-plated spade lug connectors.

"Internal Bi-wire", aka IBW, means the cable has one set of connections (+/-) on the amp end, but two sets of connections on the speaker end. This configuration is recommended for loudspeakers set up for bi-wiring. If your speakers are not set up for bi-wiring you should not purchase cables terminated this way.

If you don't see a cable configuration you want call us. We'll have it made for you.

"The 8' pair of Analysis Plus Oval 12 that I have been listening to are $151 retail. Let me say that again - $151 retail. Yes, you read that right. No, I didn't forget a zero at the end. And yes, they are killer."

"Physically, the Oval 12 offend no one by offering a nice look and solid, if unspectacular, spade lugs. The cable is not particularly thick, but they don't feel cheap in any way. They are an ergonomic dream as far as speaker cables go, being eminently flexible and therefore simple to route anywhere you want them to go."

"The principles at Analysis Plus have, since 1993, been consultants to other companies in computer simulation of electronic and electromagnetic function. Each member of the team has an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics."

"What the Analysis Plus simply does better than any other speaker cables that I've heard in my system are three things: dynamics (micro especially), bass, and coherence." "...as I took notes for this review my comments were littered with observations about these three aspects of music reproduction. Typically, they were accompanied by adjectives that were variations on the theme of "outstanding".

"What the Oval 12's did to distinguish themselves was to allow my gear to demonstrate the important aspects of music reproduction in a way that speaker cables before them did not. Listening to the Oval 12, I realized that my system always had the potential to make more realistic, involving, and emotionally powerful music, but other speaker cables were holding it back, it seems."

"Along those same lines, what I haven't mentioned until this point in the review is that, in addition to the D.H. Labs and Audiodyne cables that the Analysis Plus were up against, I also borrowed a friend's much higher priced speaker cable from MIT. Now MITs are no slouches, and there are many of you reading this who probably have them as your reference. I didn't have the MIT installed for long, so my comments may be premature, but the Analysis Plus left them in the dust. It was not even close. The superiority of the Analysis Plus was evident." "...fornow I'm real comfortable saying that the performance of the Analysis Plus Oval 12 needs no apologies in any sonic parameter that's important to me."

"...music lovers, take me seriously. You may have a hard time accepting that $151 is all you really have to spend on top-notch speaker cables, but for most of us, it's probably true. he Analysis Plus Oval 12 is one of the surest and simplest recommendations I can make. If you are interested in value, without compromising any aspect of performance, check these out."
