Recommended Component 2024 – Stereophile
Niagara 3000 Low-Z Power Noise-Dissipation System
With the introduction of the Niagara 3000, AudioQuest expands your capability to stop noise contamination and current compression. Almost all of the effective technology that distinguishes the award-winning Niagara 5000 and 7000 – including AudioQuest’s patented AC Ground Noise-Dissipation System, Transient Power Correction, extremely wide bandwidth Level-X linear filtering, and more – is here in the Niagara 3000, but at a more accessible price.
Also, the 3000’s rack-friendly dimensions (17.5” wide x 3.45” high x 15.2” deep) and the included 2-RU rack ears make Niagara 3000 a very high-performance, cost-effective option for custom-install applications.
"Recommended Component" Honors
Stereophile honored the Niagara 3000 by awarding it the magazine's coveted Recommend Component status for 2024.
According to Stereophile, "TG found that with his twin subwoofers powered by the Niagara 3000, 'it was obvious that there was less distortion in the signal, and the bass was deeper, more dynamic, and more musical than before.' He added that with his system powered by the AudioQuest, the conditioner extracted a 'previously unheard level of tangibility"' from streamed recordings.
"FK agreed, finding that the Niagara 3000 added to his system's sound a 'closer approximation to in-the-flesh music, heard whole—from top to bottom (low notes to high notes and everything in between), side to side (left channel to right), and front to back (the pinch-me illusion of soundstage depth).' He commented that with the Niagara 3000 there was 'a seamless absence of noise—across the frequency spectrum.'"
Niagara 3000 Low‑Z Power Noise‑Dissipation System
The Niagara 3000 features AudioQuest's patented AC Ground Noise-Dissipation System, the widest bandwidth-linearized AC filter in the industry, and AudioQuest's unique passive/active Transient Power Correction Circuit. Boasting an instantaneous current reservoir of over 55 amps peak, the Niagara 3000 is specifically designed for today’s current-starved power amplifiers.
Though it’s easy to tout a given technology, it’s quite another thing to create a solution that is consistent, holistic, functional, and that honors verifiable science. It’s not enough to reduce AC line noise and its associated distortions at just one octave, thus leaving vulnerable the adjacent octaves and octave partials to noise, resonant peaking, or insufficient noise reduction. Consistency is key. We should never accept superior resolution in one octave, only to suffer from masking effects a half-octave away and ringing artifacts two octaves from there. This is the principal criterion for AudioQuest’s Low-Z Power Noise-Dissipation System.
Other Built-in Technologies
Niagara 3000's patented Ground-Noise Dissipation System greatly reduces ground-borne noise without compromising safety or creating low-level ground loops.
Transient Power Correction provides power amplifiers a current reservoir of over 55 amps peak (up to 25mS) for AC current transients.
Level-X Linear Noise-Dissipation Technology ensures the most consistent and widest bandwidth noise dissipation possible, without the inconsistent multi-node resonant peaking typically found in most AC power conditioners.
AQ-Formed AC RF Filtering Capacitors dramatically improve linearity and minimize distortions, while dissipating AC line and radio-coupled noise.
Seven Filtered and Protected AC Outlets
The Niagara 3000 boasts seven Low-Z NRG Series AC Power outlets, consisting of two High-Current Low-Z Power outlets and five Level-X Linear-Filtered Power (source components) outlets.
The built-in Non-Sacrificial Surge Protection will accept multiple transient power surges and spikes up to 6000V or 3000A without damage. Over-Voltage Shutdown with Automatic Reset enacts shutdown at approximately 17% above optimal AC input levels, until the incoming AC voltage returns to a safe range.
AC Outlets with Superior Grip and Low Resistance
Niagara 3000’s NRG-Series AC outlets not only feature superior grip and lower resistance thanks to beryllium copper, they also include thick Hanging-Silver plating to ensure the lowest impedance at radio frequencies, enabling superior noise dissipation. And, of course, like all Niagara products, the slim 2-RU Niagara 3000 features direction-controlled ultra-low-resistance solid wiring and filter inductors optimized for the highest efficiency noise-dissipation of radio frequencies.
