The Ultimate Analog Preamp Reproduces Music Effortlessly
Get ready for the ultimate analog preamp. The Bryston BP-19 leverages years of R&D and many design innovations that were achieved during the development of the multi-award-winning BR-20 preamplifier.
The BP-19 reproduces music effortlessly, constructed using only the finest hand-selected premium components including an oversized toroidal power transformer. The optimized discrete operational amplifier delivers a staggeringly low THD+N measurement at or below 0.0006%.
The analog signal path is a fully balanced design, using an array of very tightly matched components and a compact circuit de- sign to achieve the lowest possible noise and superior common mode rejection. With the new balanced inputs and outputs, Bryston has been able to make significant improvements in performance in the BP-19.
This is the standard version of the BP-19 without the optional internal phono stage module.
Fully Balanced Signal Path
The major contributor to the exceptional sonic performance of the BP-19 is the fact that Bryston keeps a fully balanced signal path throughout the signal path. In the past, a fully balanced signal path was difficult to achieve because you would need a volume pot with four tapers. With volume control chips, this is no longer an issue. The new design does have a lower noise floor than previous design, but it’s much better at suppressing common mode.
For the music enthusiast, this level of circuit sophistication means more lifelike performances, more detail, and more dimensionality from the recordings you love. With support for up to 15 sources and a wide variety of inputs, you will certainly find the connectivity options you require for any system configuration.
Inputs and Outputs
The input array includes two pairs of balanced XLR input jacks and four pairs of RCA input connectors. There are two pairs of RCA (phono) outputs (one pair fixed, one pair variable), and two pair of balanced XLR outputs (one pair fixed, one pair variable).
Exceptional Optional Phono Stages for Vinyl Playback
For the first time ever, Bryston is offering the legendary BP-2 moving magnet (MM) phono stage circuit as an onboard option for the BP-19 preamp. An MM/MC board is available as an option, too.
As Carlo Lo Raso noted in his review for Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity, "The tonal balance was exceedingly neutral and revealing with just enough warmth tossed into the presentation to make any sort of vocal performance downright shine. Background noise was completely nonexistent with the BP-2." The BP-2 is highly accurate, offering extremely low noise and miniscule distortion, and providing headroom margins sufficient to prevent overload from any known phono source.
Moving coil cartridge lovers aren't left out. You may also order the BP-19 with an MM/MC onboard option. For the MM/MC version, Bryston offers specially designed, custom-made outboard step-up transformers to accommodate low output Moving Coil (MC) cartridge designs.
Wireless Control and More
Many features of the BP-19 can be easily controlled using the included infrared remote. Each of the six analog inputs have corresponding buttons on the remote as well as on the front panel of the preamp. HEX codes are also available from Bryston for use with a universal style remote control.
The BP-19 preamplifier can be controlled remotely using RS232 or IP when connected to a smart home ecosystem via the RS232 or Ethernet ports on the rear panel. The BP-19 can also be remotely turned on or placed into standby, and trigger outputs can be used to power on/off other connected equipment, such as a power amplifier.
Analog Audio Inputs
The BP-19 preamplifier is equipped with four pairs of RCA input connectors and two pairs of balanced XLR input connectors. Balanced inputs use 3 pin XLR female connectors with pin 1 being ground, pin 2 as positive signal, and pin 3 as negative signal. Input sensitivity is 1 volt and input impedance is 15K ohms. Single-ended (or unbalanced) inputs employ gold plated RCA (Phono) jacks. Line input sensitivity is 500mV and input impedance is 50K ohms.
Analog Audio Outputs
There are two pairs of RCA main outputs. One pair is fixed and one pair is variable. Also provided are two pair of balanced outputs, using 3 pin male XLR jacks. One pair has fixed output, one pair has variable output.
Bryston IR Remote
You can control many functions of the BP-19 with Bryston’s included IR remote. The six analog inputs have six buttons on the front panel and remote permanently assigned. HEX codes for use with universal remote controls are available from Bryston upon request.
The Mute button mutes the main outputs (both balanced and unbalanced) of the preamplifier.
Meticulously Handcrafted
The BP-19 is meticulously handcrafted in Canada and comes with Bryston’s legendary 20-year warranty.
The BP-19 is available in 17 or 19-inch widths.
