Highly Versatile Compact Phono Preamp
Bryston's BP-2 MM/MC is a compact phono stage that packs a huge amount of performance into a one-third size component that excels with both MM moving magnet and MC moving coil cartridges. It boasts exceptionally flat frequency response of +/-0.1dB 20 Hz - 20 kHz with inverse RIAA EQs.
Modular Approach Gives You Exactly What You Need
This small component will have a big impact in the sound of your record playback system. Though many phono preamps are chock full of features, Bryston’s modular approach separates these features into only the products you need. The separately available modules include a TF-2 Step Up Transformer and the PS-3 Power Supply.
Configurability Options
The BP-2 MM/MC is designed with different internal settings to match your MM moving magnet and MC moving coil phono cartridge.
For your moving coil cartridge, the BP-2 MM/MC has an internal 20db step-up transformer offering 1:10 step-up for mc cartridges up to 45 ohms - optimum 25 ohms with > 0.3 mV output.
For low-output moving coil cartridges, you will need to add the separately available Bryston TF-2 Step-up Transformer for compatibility with the BP-2 MM/MC. A highly accurate transformer applies the right boost with no added noise.
Moving magnet cartridges perform best when presented with a capacitive load. Bryston's ultra clean gain stage ensures the right boost and load with very low noise. The BP-2 offers four settings for capacitive loading (with between 100 and 400 pF capacitance) which can be set internally with jumpers. The desired loading for your cartridge may be found in the documentation included with the cartridge. Gain with MM cartridges is 41 dB.
Connections
Connections consist of one pair of unbalanced RCA inputs and outputs. The rear panel also contains a ground terminal. There is also an input for the separately available Bryston PS-3 (or MPS-2) power supply.
Optional PS-3 Power Supply
For maximum signal purity, the Bryston BP-2 MM/MC does not include an onboard power supply. It requires the separately available PS-3 Power Supply, which is an isolated and ultra-pure power source. If you already own a Bryston MPS-2 eternal power supply for Bryston components, you may use an available output from the MPS-2 instead.
Note: Operation requires the optional Bryston PS-3 (or MPS-2) power supply, sold separately.
