The new Cambridge Audio Alva TT V2 is a direct drive turntable with a built-in switchable phono stage and aptX HD Bluetooth streaming. A high-end option for serious vinyl lovers who also want the convenience of hi-res wireless streaming, the premium Alva TT V2 is the perfect combination of stunning sound, cutting-edge technology and great design.
Alva TT V2 retains the original Alva TT's direct drive system with a heavy aluminum top plate and polyoxymethylene (POM) platter, pre-installed Alva MC cartridge, and the innovative aptX HD Bluetooth that allows 24-bit/48kHz hi-res streaming.
New features include a brand-new, improved tonearm with convenient, detachable headshell (offering listeners an easy upgrade path), and switchable phono stage and Bluetooth – both are in response to popular customer feedback from the Alva TT's release.
The switchable phono stage offers listeners the flexibility and choice of using the Alva TT V2 with the phono stage in their existing stereo amplifier, while also making it easy for them to upgrade their hi-fi system's components over time. One of the changes from the original Alva TT is that you can now turn the Bluetooth transmitter off, offering even more choice and convenience as well as a shortened signal path – which in turn means better sound and more energy efficiency.
King of Convenience
Alva TT V2 is for people who want to listen to records at exceptional quality without the need for extra components. TT V2 comes with a bespoke designed cartridge pre-installed. It connects to pretty much any audio system too, as it has a switchable integrated phono stage. It even works wirelessly with Bluetooth speaker systems.
Built-in Bluetooth aptX HD liberates Alva from the rest of your hi-fi. With the freedom to place your Alva on any flat surface, your records take center-stage. Music can be streamed to any compatible Bluetooth component, including headphones, at up to 24bit/48kHz hi-res quality. Or you can deactivate the Bluetooth and simply use phono cables.
The integrated phono stage (aka, phono preamp) derived from the award-winning Cambridge Audio Alva Duo reveals incredible detail from your records. It means you can connect Alva to any amp or compatible speaker system. You can deactivate the phono stage if your amp already has one or to keep upgrade options open.
Moving Coil Phono Cartridge Pre-installed
Alva TT V2’s bespoke phono cartridge is factory installed – so there’s no tricky set-up, and its sound is perfectly matched to the other components in the turntable. Cambridge Audio designed this high-output moving coil (MC) cartridge with an exposed cantilever. It reduces unwanted resonance and vibration, delivering high levels of gain and outstanding musical detail during playback.
Precision Quartz-Controlled Direct Drive
Alva TT V2 has a precision medium-torque direct drive motor, like its predecessor the TT. The eight-pole, three-phase, brushless DC motor is quartz controlled to ensure accurate turntable speed. With precision control, and silent running, Alva TT V2 achieves just 0.06% wow and flutter. This means it maintains excellent pitch stability during record play – particularly during longer, more sustained, musical notes.
Semi-Crystalline Thermoplastic Platter and All-New Tonearm
Complementing the direct drive motor, Alva TT V2’s platter has the feel of finely polished stone. It’s made from Polyoxymethylene, a semi-crystalline thermoplastic used in precision engineering applications, where high stiffness and dimensional stability are demanded. The weight of the platter, coupled with our medium torque direct drive motor, ensures excellent speed stability during playback of records.
Cambridge Audio's engineers selected a new high-mass, low-resonance tonearm for Alva TT V2 and Alva ST. By minimizing resonant frequencies, and in combination with the cartridge, it helps retrieve the maximum detail from your records. A detachable die-cast aluminum headshell makes swapping cartridges easy – then fine-tuned with greater precision thanks to a new anti-skating dial.
Dust Cover Included, Too
Keep your new Alva turntable’s finely balanced tonearm and aluminum top-plate pristine when you’ve finished spinning discs with the hinged dust-cover. It’s easy to raise, lower, remove and re-attach. The choice is yours.
