Network Music Player with Built-in Amp
No external amplifier needed! The Cocktail Audio X35 music player connects directly to a pair of speakers, thanks to its built-in amp which delivers 200-watts of total system power. This high-resolution audio player and DAC a Sabre32 reference DAC chips, a CD ripper, music server, network streamer, music recorder, and much more.
As far as functionality goes, unlike its sibling, the X45, the X35 does not include XLR and RCA preamp outs, a USB audio input, or MQA playback. If you can do without those features, this is the do-it-all digital music system for you. And the built-in amplifier is a terrific feature.
Equipped with high-performance Dual Core ARM Cortex A9 processor running at 1.0Ghz, it boasts an ESS ES9018K2M Sabre32 Reference DAC chip for amazing sound. An oversize toroidal transformer minimizes idle noise, while the isolated power source circuit design for digital and analog sections eliminates contamination and keeps noise vanishingly low.
Advanced File Support and Functionality
The X35 fully supports DSD (64 / 128 / 256), DXD (24-Bit / 352.8 kHz), PCM signals up to 32-Bit-/-384 kHz, including 24-Bit / 192 kHz WAV/FLAC and full range hi-res audio file formats.
You can connect a turntable directly to the X45 to play and record an LP via the MM moving magnet input with built-in MM phono stage. Record other analog sources, like a cassette deck, and also record from the built-in DAB+/FM radio, Internet radio to X35 MusicDB via recording function with hi-res sampling rate 192 kHz.
The X35 features a GigaFast Ethernet LAN for a wired network connection. It provides versatile network functions, including major music streaming services (TIDAL, Deezer, Qobuz, Napster) and Internet Radio. It is 'Roon Ready', accommodating the famous music player for music lovers and uses the customized remote control app, NOVATRON MusicX, for iOS and Android. A customized WebInterface (WebUI) also provides remote control and MusicDB management via PC.
High-speed Optical Drive for Ripping CDs
For fast CD ripping, the X35 uses a front-loading optical disc drive (ODD) with 24x high speed. It can rip a CD with a 60-minute playing time CD in less than 10 minutes. Once it's done ripping, the X35 will catalog your CD collection by album, artist, genre, and year, and will also store all ripped CDs into the music database in FLAC, ALAC, WAV, or MP3 file formats. The CD ripping is augmented by professional CD metadata and album cover art provided by Gracenote.
Multiple Inputs and Outputs
The X35 offers a variety of digital audio inputs and outputs for connection to other audio devices. The three digital outputs consist of Toslink optical, coaxial, and AES/EBU XLR, which support up to 24-bit/192 kHz. This means the X40 can be used as an audio server and source device if you wish to use an existing external amplifier and/or DAC.
For quick data transfer, the X45 offers two high speed USB3.0 host ports. The USB Audio Class 2.0 output lets you connect an external USB DAC. The HDMI output lets you connect an external screen like a TV to use as the X45's GUI screen or audio signal out.
On the input side are Toslink optical, coaxial, and AES/EBU digital inputs, L/R RCA analog inputs, a front panel mini-jack analog input, and an input to the built-in MM phono stage for your turntable.
That's wired connectivity. What about wireless? You can play songs from iOS devices using Apple AirPlay and music from Spotify wirelessly, too.
But that's not all! You can also connect wirelessly to the X35 using the optional Cocktail Audio USB Wi-fi Dongle (sold separately) that plugs into one of the USB ports. With the wireless function, you can greatly increase the control options and flexibility of this great component! You can control the X35 remotely using mobile devices including an iPhone, iPad, or iPod or using Android smartphones and tablets by downloading free UPnP apps.
For an intimate listening experience, the high quality headphone out with 1/4” jack provides high sensitivity.
Intuitive Front Panel Controls and LCD Screen
Intuitive front panel controls provide quick access to basic functions and menu keys for the large 7-inch TFT LCD (1024 x 600 pixels) screen for intuitive GUI. Using its HDMI output, you can use an external big screen, such as a monitor or TV, as its GUI screen. You can also view a photo slideshow while you're listening to music. The X35 supports various picture file formats like JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF and BMP.
Add Your Own Hard Drive for Digital File Storage
For storing digital music files, the X35 supports a 3.5” SATA hard disk or a 2.5” SATA hard disk or solid state drive (SSD) as storage. A customized storage drive bay drawer allows quick and easy installation. Currently, the X35 support up to 8TB of storage using a 3.5"/2.5" hard disk or SSD.
Rugged and Durable Casework
The X35 front panel is 13mm thick aluminum with CNC cutting and metal chassis. The die-cast aluminum feet provide rigidity along with additional resistance from external vibrations.
