Formidable Center Channel Speaker from ELAC
The ELAC DCR52 center channel speaker is a formidable match for the front-channel speakers in the new Debut Reference Series line. Building on the iconic status of ELAC’s Debut Series, this new Reference line from designer Andrew Jones brings significant acoustical and visual advancements.
The Debut Reference Series
The Debut Reference Series features begin with improved high frequency response, thanks to a newly developed waveguide combined with a more open grill design enhances upper high frequency response. At the same time, ELAC's new dual flared slot vent allows for lower noise and higher bass output for improved bass dynamics.
A new full perimeter brace that joins the top and the side panels significantly lessens cabinet vibrations, reducing cabinet coloration. ELAC's new cast basket for the woofer provides improved stiffness for both strengthening the front baffle and minimizing chassis resonances.
High Performance Drivers
The Debut DCR52 is a two-way design with dual 5-1/4" aramid fiber cone woofers and a 1" cloth dome tweeter. Aramid fiber offers a superior strength-to-weight ratio and improved damping characteristics over conventional paper or plastic drivers. This added strength means arriving at designs that achieve a broader bandwidth with smoother response.
The shape of the aramid cone along with the new cast basket offers even greater stiffness and damping, far superior to polypropylene or paper. The added strength allows more flexibility in design to achieve a smoother, extended low-frequency response.
ELAC's silk-dome tweeter features a wide-roll surround and takes response up to 35,000 Hz for even more lifelike high frequencies. The new waveguide and grill improve directivity control to eliminate the diffraction modes inherent in traditional box enclosures.
New, Larger Cabinets
Thick MDF cabinets incorporate new specially designed internal bracing to add stiffness and strength. This bracing greatly reduces cabinet vibrations that cause unwanted coloration to the sound – because the only parts of a speaker that should be moving are the speaker drivers themselves.
You'll love the look of the Debut Reference Series speakers, too, whether you choose the White Baffle and Oak Cabinet Finish or the Black Baffle and Walnut Cabinet Finish.
