Music Hall's MMF-3.3 is the company's first entry-level table utilizing the unique dual-plinth technology originated by Music Hall. The MMF-3.3 embodies the culmination of over 30 years of research, development, and – most important of all – listening. This three-speed belt-drive table was developed for vinyl lovers seeking a perfectly matched set of features with an uncompromising focus on sound performance.
The MMF-3.3 is constructed using high quality components and comes complete with a tonearm, a mounted phono cartridge, and even a dust cover.
Dual Plinth Design
The centerpiece of the MMF-3.3's great performance is Music HallÂ’s unique dual-plinth design, which isolates the electronics and motor from the main bearing and tonearm for a level of sonic purity unique at anywhere near the price.
The full-size alloy platter uses a high precision stainless steel and bronze main bearing assembly for quiet fluid operation and comes with a felt mat.
Electronic Speed Control
There's no fumbling with belts and pulleys when you want to shift from playing LPs to 45s. Thanks to the 3.3's electronic speed control, you can access 33-1/3, 45, or 78 rpm platter speeds at the touch of a button. The electronic speed-controlled DC motor offers superior speed stability, and it is isolated on lower plinth to help keep vibration out of the signal chain.
Custom Carbon Fiber Tonearm
Another feature highly unusual at the MMF-3.3's price is the custom carbon fiber tonearm with an alloy headshell for superb tracking ability. The flexible internal tonearm wire is drawn from high purity copper. Tonearm features user adjustable VTA and azimuth. The counterweightÂ’s center of gravity is level with the stylus tip, and because it is decoupled from the arm, it acts as a resonance damper.
Ortofon 2M Red Phono Cartridge Included
Everything you need to start listening to your vinyl right away comes with the MMF-3.3. This includes the highly regarded Ortofon 2M Red cartridge with replaceable elliptical stylus ($100 value). The cartridge is already mounted and properly aligned. Just plug the MMF-3.3 into your phono stage or integrated amp with phono input, and you're ready to go.
Ortofon's 2M Red moving magnet phono cartridge is an all-purpose cartridge that delivers open, dynamic sound with a slight touch of warmth. It features a new, improved engine that provides an increased output of 5.5mV, an optimized sound reproduction, and a high level of sonic accuracy.
The 2M Red boasts a tipped elliptical diamond and split pole pins with a copper wire. Split pole pins are an invention that enables moving magnet cartridges to have a flat frequency response, as with a much higher-priced moving coil cartridge. Split pole pins were invented by Ortofon and were originally presented in the 500 series and Super OM series.
A review in England’s Hi-fi News magazine praised the 2M Red for its “pleasing ambience... intimate, trembling quality... bass in proportion... [and] good detail."
Other Fabulous Features
Despite its many features and great performance, the 3.3 is quick and easy to set up. Special vibration damping adjustable feet make leveling easy. The high quality gold RCA connectors come with a detachable phono cable. An attractive dust cover and 45 rpm adaptor are included, too.
