Superb Dual-Plinth Turntable with Acrylic Platter and Beautiful Walnut Veneer
The Music Hall MMF-7.3SE Walnut turntable is a two-speed belt driven audiophile turntable employing the unique dual-plinth construction originated by Music Hall.
The MMF-7.3SE Walnut comes in a gorgeous walnut veneer finish and is available with or without the Ortofon 2M Bronze cartridge.
Isolates the Critical Sound Reproducing Components
The distinctive design of the MMF-7.3SE Walnut isolates the critical sound reproducing components. The platter, main bearing, tonearm, and cartridge on the top platform are isolated from the adjustable tip-toe feet, which are mounted on the bottom platform. The motor speed controls, and wiring are isolated on their own platform and completely decoupled from the turntable.
The MMF-7.3SE Walnut features Music Hall’s unique dual plinth construction, using Sorbothane hemispheres to separate the two platforms and provide additional suspension and vibration damping. The low noise, fully manual belt drive design will bring out the best in your vinyl.
Pro-Ject Carbon Fiber Tonearm
The tonearm is the 'Pro-Ject Carbon'. This is a carbon fiber version of the acclaimed Project 9.1 arm. The bearings are made from hardened stainless steel points set in sturdy ring cages. The counterweight's center of gravity is level with the stylus tip. It is decoupled from the arm and acts as a resonance damper. The arm also has adjustable VTA, a damped arm lift and highly flexible internal wiring drawn from high purity copper.
The one-piece full carbon fiber tonearm is light, rigid, and non-resonant. The counterweight’s center of gravity is level with the stylus tip and is also decoupled from the arm to act as a resonance damper.
Isolated, Decoupled DC Motor
The MMF-7.3SE Walnut's completely isolated/decoupled DC motor boasts convenient 33-1/3 and 45 rpm electronic speed change controls located in the front left corner of the turntable, thus canceling any potential vibration from the motor/belt to the cartridge. The motor sits on its own resonance damping puck.
The motor is a 15 volt DC and comes with an external power supply. The motor rests in a cutout on the front, left quadrant of the turntable. It is completely isolated from the table and sports a blue LED. Placing the motor diagonally opposite the arm reduces any vibrations caused by the belt from entering into the cartridge. Any vibrations would be absorbed along the length of the arm thus bypassing the stylus (The stylus moves from left to right, not front to back).
Acrylic Platter
You usually have to pay a lot more to get a non-resonant acrylic platter with your turntable, but it comes standard with the MMF-7.3SE Walnut. The precision stainless steel main bearing is sheathed in Teflon® for noise-free, fluid operation. The drive belt runs round the perimeter of the acrylic platter. Acrylic was chosen for its superior sound quality and isolation properties. A screw-on record clamp and felt mat are supplied as standard.
Other features include high quality gold RCA connectors, adjustable tip toe feet with anti scratch cups, a built-in round spirit level for proper leveling, a dust cover, 45rpm adaptor, metal screw-on record clamp, soft felt mat, and detachable phono cable. Also included is an excellent instruction manual and easy assembly.
Optional Ortofon 2M Bronze cartridge
The MMF-7.3SE Walnut is available with or without the Ortofon 2M Bronze cartridge.
The optional Ortofon 2M Bronze Optional Ortofon 2M Bronze cartridge is a $440 value. It comes properly aligned and mounted so that set-up is a cinch!
The 2M Bronze features a nude Fine Line diamond stylus, which is particularly suited for demanding applications. The slim profile of the Fine Line stylus will track even the highest frequency information, making it a must for discerning listeners. Additionally, its larger footprint ensures reduced distortion and record wear. The cartridge body used for the 2M Bronze is manufactured from a newly-developed Lexan DMX Piano Black, a revolutionary material which ensures high rigidity while eliminating unwanted resonances.
The 2M Series provides excellent compatibility when used with a wide variety of phono preamps. The 2M Bronze uses a special upgraded engine, featuring split pole pins with a silver-plated copper wire.
