Triple-Plinth Turntable with One-Inch-Thick Acrylic Platter and Ortofon Quintet Cartridge
Music Hall's MMF-9.3 SE turntable is outstanding right out of the box. And for no-holds-barred performance, this version of the 9.3 SE is graced with the superb Ortofon Quintet Black low-output moving coil phono cartridge.
The Music Hall MMF-9.3 SE turntable, is a two speed, belt driven audiophile turntable employing the unique triple plinth construction originated by Music Hall. Sorbothane hemispheres separate each of the three platforms and provide additional suspension and vibration damping.
The distinctive design isolates the critical sound reproducing components. The platter, main bearing, tonearm, and cartridge, on the top platform and isolated from the adjustable tip-toe feet and wiring, which are mounted on the bottom platform. The motor and speed controls are isolated on their own vibration-damping base and completely decoupled from the turntable.
Carbon Fiber Tonearm
The one-piece full carbon fiber tonearm is light, rigid, and non-resonant. The counterweight’s center of gravity is level with the stylus tip and is also decoupled from the arm to act as a resonance damper.
The MMF-9.3 SE's completely isolated/decoupled DC motor boasts convenient 33-1/3 and 45 rpm electronic speed change controls located in the front left corner of the turntable, thus canceling any potential vibration from the motor/belt to the cartridge. The motor sits on its own resonance damping puck.
1"-Thick Acrylic Platter
You usually have to pay a lot more to get a premium, 1"-thick non-resonant acrylic platter with your turntable, but it comes standard with the MMF-9.3 SE. The inverted ceramic main bearing provides super quiet, fluid operation.
Other features include high quality gold RCA connectors, adjustable tip toe feet with anti scratch cups, a built-in round spirit level for proper leveling, a dust cover, 45rpm adaptor, soft felt mat, and detachable phono cable. Also included is an excellent instruction manual and easy assembly.
Order with Ortofon MC Quintet Black Phono Cartridge
Ortofon's Quintet Black moving oil cartridge is the best example of Quintet's overall excellence. The Quintet Black is graced with a Nude Shibata diamond, considered one of the best stylus profiles available, mounted on a high-performance Sapphire cantilever.
The Shibata's slim, highly polished profile allows an exceedingly wide contact area to the walls of the groove and ensures detailed and pure reproduction throughout the spectrum, including even the most high frequency groove information. The Quintet Black will be unfettered by musical genre and will give the closest approach within the Quintet Series to Ortofon's true accuracy in sound.
"The Ortofon Quintet is an all-around great performer for all musical genres," reports Neil Gader in The Absolute Sound magazine. "Recommended without reservation."
