"A Desktop Dynamo to Be Reckoned With"
There's no need to buy multiple components when this compact gem does it all. Micromega's MyAmp is a handy three-in-one system consisting of a DAC, a Bluetooth receiver with aptX technology, and an amplifier rolled into one. It also includes a great-sounding headphone amp with columne control. With an output of 60 watts-per-channel into 4 ohms, operating in Class A/B, MyAmp works perfectly with a large stereo system, television, tablet, smartphone, or computer.
"The whole point of 'entry level' is to pare away the extraneous and cut to the chase: performance. In this sense, the MyAMP flat-out gets down to business," reports Neil Gader in The Absolute Sound. "The MyAMP is confirmation that serious comes in all sizes. It’s a desktop dynamo to be reckoned with."
"I Can Think of Few That Are Better Than This"
"When it comes to sound, the Micromega MyAmp is an energetic, attacking beast. It rips through The Social Network soundtrack’s electronic and synth-based textures with a crisp and driven nature. Timing is snappy, there’s grit and bite to the crunchy notes, and a decent helping of detail, notes What Hi-Fi?.
"The Gallic flair that the aesthetic and ergonomic design shows also applies to the way it makes music," says Hi-Fi Choice. "Despite giving an engaging sound, it remains surprisingly refined; sophistication such as this is unexpected from a product of this price. If you’re looking for a compact amplifier to make music in your study, bedroom or kitchen I can think of few that are better than this."
Plenty of Connectivity
MyAmp is a complete integrated amplifier solution for all of your source components. It has three line level analog inputs (AN1, AN2 and AN3), one USB 24/96 digital input, and two 24/192 SPDIF coaxial and optical inputs. The onboard aptX Bluetooth module offers outstanding sonic performance for streaming music from your favorite device. A convenient pairing switch located on the back panel of the unit makes it easy to connect many different Bluetooth devices, like smartphones, tablets, and computers.
The rear panel SUB output allows you to add an active subwoofer to your system if you like. The RECORD output sends the analog signal content at a fixed line level output to an external device such as a recorder or a processor. On the MyAmp front panel, you will find a 3.5mm headphone jack. When inserting a headphone jack, the loudspeakers are muted and the volume control work with the headphones.
Loudspeaker output binding posts accommodate bananas, spades, and lugs. MyAmp has also a trigger input to control the "Standby / On" status of the unit by a 5 to 12V DC trigger voltage. On the same connector you can also send from an external system RC5 remote control codes to access directly all MyAmp functions.
Revolutionary Power Supply
MyAmp is small but powerful! Two years of design work have led to the production of a compact yet high performance, reliable product. It offers big, room-filling sound, delivering 2 x 30 watts into 8 ohms and 2 x 60 watts into 4 ohms. The power amp section operates in class AB, thus needing a heatsink. MyAmp is cooled by forced convection. After research into heat output, Micromega included a proprietary radiator with an extremely quiet fan in the MyAmp design.
Fun and Easy to Use
Fun and easy to use, the Micromega MyAmp features tactile switches for controlling input selection and volume. A 256-step x 0.5dB volume control with LED bar graph display and clipping indicator give you smooth incremental control over audio amplitude. The included RC5 remote control offers direct access to inputs for effortless source selection switching.
