"The Notes Slide and Shoot Like Stars," Says Stereophile
Everything a Dedicated Audiophile Needs and Wants in a Speaker
Punchy bass. A great high and mid-range response. Beautifully crafted looks. It’s not hard to say what makes the Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G floorstanding speaker so special. But it is hard to appreciate just what a difference those things make – until you listen for yourself.
There are plenty of technical innovations in the Silver 500 7G. Rigid Surface Technology II keeps the sound perfectly clear and controlled even at high volume. The crossover system perfectly balances the output from the tweeter and bass driver as needed.
The consistent and smooth frequency response sounds great with all genres of music and excels in a home theater setting. We could go on, but you only really need to hear one thing: the first note of your favorite song played on a pair of Silver 500 7G speakers. Then you’ll understand why it’s everything the dedicated audiophile could want, and everything the casual listener could need.
"Absolutely Recommended"
"The whole wide frequency range of music sounds well-behaved, smooth, and of a piece. Notes seem to emanate from air, not from wooden boxes. The notes slide and shoot like stars," observes Robert Schryer, Stereophile, January 20, 2022. "Monitor Audio speakers are designed, most importantly, to sound good with every type of music. To that I'll add that the 500s, like all hi-fi equipment worth its salt, reveal not only what sounds better but by how much."
"Monitor Audio’s Silver 500 7G is a speaker that I think most listeners will greatly appreciate. This near-universal appeal is why I think it belongs on your shortlist of speakers to check out if you’re looking at this price point, or even considerably higher. Absolutely recommended," raves Philip Beaudette, SoundStage!Hi-Fi, February 1, 2022
Superb Three-Way Design
The three-way design with dedicated mid-range and bass drivers delivers the ultimate refinement. Silver 500 7G has two 8” drivers and larger volume for more power and bass extension, two. The driver complement consists of a 1" C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter with Uniform Dispersion (UD) Waveguide II for more lifelike sound, a 3" C-CAM mid-range driver with Rigid Surface Technology (RST) II for extra clarity, and two 8" C-CAM bass driver with RST II, also for extra clarity.
Perfect for mid to large-sized room set-ups, either in a stereo or a home theater system, the Silver 500 7G is rear-ported and tuned for ease of positioning without affecting the sound performance. Increased stability is provided by sturdy outrigger feet and a choice of spikes for carpets or rubber feet for hard floors. Both are included. Choose from beautiful Satin White and High Gloss Black finishes or real wood veneers Black Oak, Natural Walnut, and Ash.
The Seventh Generation Silver Series
Ever since the Monitor Audio Silver Series was introduced in 1999, it has set standards where performance, finish and value for money are concerned. And with the new seventh generation, Monitor Audio has put even more distance between the Silver Series and its nominal competition. The seventh generation of the Silver Series features a brand-new, contemporary design in a choice of five high-quality finishes, numerous acoustic innovations and a model line-up extensive enough to cater for every music and home theater requirement.
New Rigid Surface Technology (RST) II Driver Design
The New Rigid Surface Technology (RST) II Driver uses an aluminum alloy that improves the tensile strength of the cone while retaining all the benefits of Monitor Audio's C-CAM technology – low distortion, high power handling, excellent directivity. Drivers can go louder for longer without compromise.
New C-CAM Tweeter Design
A completely new magnet structure and rear chamber design are among the invisible improvements to the new C-CAM Tweeter Design. The new Uniform Dispersion Waveguide II and compression ring are much more visible now. And the end result of the extensive redesign is thrillingly clean and accurate treble response.
New Crossover Design
Splitting the incoming signal between tweeter and mid/bass driver is an art in and of itself. Monitor Audio's new crossover design for the Seventh Generation Silver Series works sympathetically with the drivers to deliver perfect tonal balance.
New Tweeter and Driver Trims
By minimizing the appearance of the mid/bass driver surround, and by making a feature of the tweeter protection dispersion pattern, both the look and the performance of the speaker is enhanced.
New Cabinet Design and Finishes
Crisply drawn edges define the new Silver Series 7G cabinets, and the choice of five luxurious finishes, including three real-wood veneers, creates a look that’s both contemporary and timeless.
