Reference-Class DAC with an Open Sense of Live Performance
The NuPrime AMG DAC uses dual ESS DACs with discrete Class-A transistors for natural, detailed, and expansive sound stage sound characteristics. It features five digital inputs – including IIS/DSD – and one analog stereo input, RCA stereo and XLR balanced outputs, and decoding capability of PCM 384K and DSD256. It is a true reference-class DAC designed for studio professionals and the most demanding high-end audiophiles.
In a modern high-end DAC, the preamp stage plays a prominent role in determining the sound qualify and characteristics. The AMG DAC preamp design is up to the task of no-compromise performance with any source material you throw at it. The output stage voltage amplification employs all discrete components, and the output stage current amplification uses a high-speed amplifier also with complete discrete components. The "current transmitter" has no negative feedback amplifier.
Natural, Relaxed Sound
The resulting sound is natural and relaxed with no hint of the artificiality all too often associated with digital audio components. Instead, you will experience a very open sense of live performance space with a focused sound field. The guitar and piano melody naturally scattered in the listening space invite you to relax and immerse yourself in the music, transforming the stiff strings into realistic and smooth sounds.
The Heart of Your Audio System
As the heart of your audio system, the AMG DAC supports an extensive number of inputs and formats. Dual ESS Technology 32-bit audio DAC ESS9038Q2M independently decode left and right channels improve channel separation and reducing overall noise. The Vishay professional film MELF resistors provide excellent sound quality. Ultra-low-noise JFETs in the input stage provide the lowest possible noise floor.
Amplitude is adjusted by a high-quality Muses 72320 volume control. Its high degree of linearity combined with low noise and distortion characteristics make it an excellent choice for high-end audio applications. It boasts a balanced differential input and a ground-sensing output that lets you bid goodbye to cross-channel ground loops. Additionally, individually adjustable volume settings for each input allow a precise level matching of sources.
An Array of Inputs and Outputs
The AMG DAC has the inputs and outputs to support a complete audio system. The inputs consist of one coaxial and one optical input for CD/DVD/BD players, TV and any source device with a compatible digital output, a USB input for computer (PC/MAC) and for NAS devices, an extension port for an optional Bluetooth or wi-fi receiver/streamer, a stereo analog in for any analog source device, and an IIS/DSD Digital input With HDMI cable to transfer IIS and DSD data from NuPrime source devices. (Note: Do not connect to the HDMI output of a set-top box or BD / DVD player.)
The outputs consist of one balanced XLR out and one stereo RCA out, along with a 12V trigger out.
Signal Processing
The AMG DAC uses an exclusive NuPrime SRC IC chip (co-developed with the IC vendor) to provides DSP processing. The input signals are upsampled to megahertz before they are down-converted to the targeted sampling rate with ultra-low jitter and distortion. Asynchronous transfer mode combats input signal jitter.
Supported PCM sample rate consist of 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, 192, 352.8, and 384 kHz. DSD sample rates are d2.8 (64), d5.6 (128), and d11.2 (256). DSD native playback is supported by ASIO2.1 and DoP methods.
Remote Control Included
For convenient operation from your favorite armchair, a handsome wireless remote is included. The solid build quality and buttons will feel good in your hand. A front panel display provides operational status information.
