A Breakthrough in Low Distortion Design
The NuPrime AMG ONE monoblock power amplifier is a scaled-down version of NuPrime Evolution Two. It maximizes a significant breakthrough in distortion reduction. NuPrime calls this its Only Distortion Cancellation (ODC) design, which continues advancing NuPrime's state-of-the-art Class-D development for the past decade.
A great-sounding amp owes much of its success to the quality of the power supply, and NuPrime doesn't compromise with the AMG ONE. The 250W high-power toroidal transformer power supply has been enhanced to deliver cleaner and more stable power with lower noise floor. The entire power path fully adopts 15A ultra-high current and low resistance terminals, which improves current dynamic capability. This single-channel amp uses an impressive total of 22000uF power supply filter capacitors.
High-quality copper PCB traces instead of the usual cables are used to connect the power supply to the amplifier’s circuitry, maximizing power delivery.
The power output (RMS) of the AMG ONE is 170 Watts at 8 Ohms and 220 Watts at 4 Ohms, with peak output power of 210 Watts at 8 Ohms and 260 Watts at 4 Ohms.
The Proof is in the Listening
Listen to the AMG ONE and you will be blown away by the sonic performance. The AMG ONE sound characteristics can be described as possessing a wide and deep soundstage with no loss of clarity at the greatest depth. With large-scale orchestral recordings, you will have a clear image of the last rows of percussion and wind, including subtle pedal sounds! Such details are presented in a truthful manner without artificial enhancements.
Other characteristics include ultra-fast dynamics with a greater range, natural and pure due to ultra-low distortion. The extremely clean background provides exceptional detail and nuances, exuding Class-A like warmth.
Only Distortion Cancellation (ODC) Design
Delving deep under the hood, here is a quick summary of the breakthrough Only Distortion Cancellation (ODC) Design. A typical feedback error correction design inverts the output signal for summation with the original input signal to derive the negative error signal – which adds to the next cycle of the input signal to form a more accurate output signal.
NuPrime’s ODC Class-D design has a significant advantage. It derives the error signal from MOSFET devices and the output filter circuit directly, significantly reducing the negative feedback signal. This results in a substantial reduction in distortion, with THD+N of 0.003% at 1 kHz (5W), 0.004 at1 kHz (50W) and less than 0.006% THD+N at 1 kHz (2W~80W). This breakthrough improvement in Class-D design results in a pure and natural audio experience.
