Reference Class DAC and Preamp with DSD Playback

The NuPrime DAC-9 is a reference-class DAC and preamp offering PCM 384K and DSD256 decoding. With four digital inputs and one analog stereo input, the DAC-9 is a full-featured DAC and preamp ideally suited for high-end systems. It supports DSD native playback via ASIO2.1 and the DoP method.

Designed for studio recording professionals, the DAC-9 boasts high precision AES and XLR outputs and is certain to satisfy the most demanding home audiophiles. Five digital inputs and one stereo input provide complete system flexibility. Asynchronous transfer mode provides very low jitter and low distortion.

The inputs consist of 1 x USB PCM / DSD digital (PCM up to 384 kHz and DSD up to DSD256), 1 x coaxial digital S/PDIF (PCM up to 192 kHz, DoP format DSD64), 1 x optical digital S/PDIF (PCM up to 192 kHz, DoP format DSD64), 1 x AES digital balanced input, and 1 x analog stereo RCA. The outputs consist of 1 x stereo RCA analog out, 1 x stereo XLR analog out, and 1 x optical S/PDIF out.

    Megahertz Upsampling

The DAC-9 uses an enhanced SRC (Sampling Rate Conversion) IC chip, which provides FPGA processing with ultra-low jitter and distortion. The input signal is upsampled to 1 megahertz before it is converted to the target sampling rate in order to provide the best possible jitter reduction.

The premium newest generation AKM4490 EQ 32-bit stereo DAC used in the DAC-9 supports USB PCM 768 and DSD256. It is is also capable of decoding DoP formats via coaxial and optical inputs.

    Feature, Features, and More Features

The DAC-9 offers full microprocessor control with memory retention. Ultra-low-noise JFETs in the input stage provide the lowest possible noise floor, while volume adjustment is available in 99 precise 0.5dB increments. Volume is controlled by an advanced, thin-film switched-resistor ladder network with a single resistor in the signal path at any volume setting. Individually adjustable volume is provided for each input for precise level matching of sources.

It uses very low power consumption in Standby Mode. Premium NuPrime vibration-free isolation feet (patent pending) help keep room-borne mechanical noise out of the signal chain. The DAC-9 is available in black or silver anodized aluminum finish. A wireless remote is included.

An optional extension port for Bluetooth dongle and WiFi audio streaming is sold separately.

The NuPrime DAC-9 uses a standard driver software for Mac and exclusive driver software for Windows (see the NuPrime website).
