Performance Way, Way Beyond Its Price Point
Pangea Audio asked veteran high-end audio cable designer, Jay Victor, to design a headphone cable that would be better than the other inexpensive extension cables on the market.
"Leave it to me," said Jay.
A few months later a package arrived from Jay labeled "Headphone Cable – break in for 24 hours." Pangea techs couldn't wait and plugged in the cable right away. Straight from the box the cable sounded great with none of the usual sonic problems that are common with almost all inexpensive headphone cables, like microphonics. In headphone cables, microphonics is a scratching sound that happens when the cable flexes or is moved around.
But Jay was right. After 24 hours of burn-in, the cable sounded even better – smoother and more detailed.
A Lot Going On with The Cable Design
"I'm glad you like the cable," replied Jay in response to Pangea's enthusiastic report. "There's more going on with that cable design than you can imagine."
"The scratchy sound you don't hear is a triboelectric effect caused by two materials rubbing together. Some years ago, I became a celebrity at one of my Asian factories when I designed a cable that eliminated this effect," explained Jay. "My solution is one of my trade secrets."
"Another thing I did in this cable was use a combination of solid core and litz conductors. This design is covered by my patent #7,170,008," Jay said. "For the solid core wire I chose Cardas Grade One Copper, which many consider to be the best copper on the planet. I think it elevates the cable performance way, way above its price point."
"Quite Simply the Best Copper on the Planet"
This Pangea Audio cable uses no-compromise Cardas Grade One Copper, which George Cardas of Cardas Audio developed for his own premium cables.
George’s copper is mined in Arizona, then shipped to a New England factory where it is very S-L-O-W-L-Y drawn into conductors in a process that includes reduction annealing between steps to further purify and meld the copper into what George calls "the most amazing audio conductor I have ever experienced. It is quite simply the best copper on the planet."
"The bottom line is that the best phono cartridges manufactured in the world, the best transformer winders, and the best cable manufactures in the world are converting to this smooth sounding Cardas Grade One Copper," George reports.
"It is simply stunning how using a combination of space age technology (reduction annealing) and ancient drawing process (diamond dies and a slow multi stage annealing) can result in such a refined product," says George.
Designed for Durability, Too
According to Jay, "I took special care in designing the connectors and the internal attachments to make sure the cable would be very durable and last for years without failure. I also included the stealth-finish nylon braiding which resists scuffing and cracking for a long, long time."
With top-notch construction, premium conductors and ingenious design the Pangea Audio Premier Headphone Extension Cable will provide years of headphone listening pleasure.
