Product of the Year - Hi-fi Choice Magazine

The Ultimate Sub-Chassis Turntable for the 21st Century

Never a company to simply rest on their laurels, Pro-Ject recently conducted listening tests on their best-selling sub-chassis turntable, the classic Perspective. It remains an amazing turntable, but listening tests showed that metal springs and sub-chassis limit the sonic possibilities.

With the 6perspeX, Pro-Jet takes a great leap forward. The sub-chassis of the 6perspeX is made out of high-density Corian®, a solid surface material from DuPont that is popularly used in countertops. The Corian sub-chassis which shows no resonances at all, and this assembly is supported by magnetic power instead of metal springs providing excellent decoupling.

The result of Pro-Ject's sub-chassis test was phenomenal, and Pro-Ject decided to combine this ultimate turntable design with its new high-end tonearm, the Pro-Ject 9cc Evolution. The revolutionary decoupling concept and the mechanical tonearm masterpiece show outstanding abilities in fine dynamics and push the limits of analog audio one step further.

    Superpack Goodies

The special Superpack version of the 6perspeX includes a Sumiko Amethyst moving magnet phono cartridge and a high quality 48" Pro-Ject Connect it Phono RCA-C connection cable.

You can also order the standard version without the Superpack goodies.

    "Brilliant Job!"

England's Hi-fi Choice magazine honored the 6perspeX as test winner and Product of the Year for 2010. The magazine praised its tonally best results (open and smooth sound), high quality components (good looking design), and excellent value for the money.

"Decidedly, bass lines became transparent and grippy - brilliant job!" reaves Germany's Stereo magazine, September 2009. "Mid and treble were extremely rich in detail, airy, with outstanding transparency and without any sign of artificial side effects."

Sophisticated Plinth, Sub-chassis, and Platter System

The transparent acrylic plinth stands on three individually height-adjustable Sorbothane®-damped aluminum cones and carries the motor and the sub-chassis. The sub-chassis, made of Corian, rests on three magnetic fields. A supplied spirit level allows easy adjustment of the sub-chassis.

Complementing the new design is a quiet running AC motor with a two-step pulley drives the platter's outside edge via a belt. The inverted bearing uses a stainless-steel axle carrying a ceramic ball on which the ceramic bearing plate runs.

The resonance-optimized platter is a sandwich construction utilizing a fine-balanced medium density fiber platter weighing 2Kg (4.4 lbs.) and a 4mm-thick (0.16") flat-ground layer of vinyl, plus a screw-down metal record clamp.

Connection to the phono input of your receiver or amplifier can be made with a connecting cable through the gold plated phono jacks and ground screw. A high quality48"-long Pro-Ject Connect it Phono RCA-C connecting cable is supplied. An external power supply avoids potential electro-mechanical interference.

    A dust cover is included.

    New 9cc Evolution Tonearm

A new 9" tonearm, the 9cc Evolution, incorporates a conical carbon fiber arm tube with integrated headshell made of a single piece of carbon fiber and new ultra-rigid bearing assembly to give you the ability to use more massive and lower compliant moving coil cartridges. The conical arm tube avoids standing wave reflections

The headshell and conical armtube are formed from a single piece of carbon fiber for maximum rigidity and resonance control. The arm tube stills allows azimuth adjustments, despite the fixed headshell. The vertical tracking angle is also adjustable. Nominal speeds are 33-1/3 rpm and 45 rpm.

Inverted tonearm bearing comprises four hardened stainless tips in ABEC7 spec ballraces. Rings provide very solid arm bearing housings. The massive outside ring is open to avoid resonances.

A Sorbothane-damped counterweight effectively counteracts unwanted resonances. The counterweights supplied are suitable for cartridges weighing between 5-7.5g, 7-10g, 9-11g, or 10-14g.

The silicone-damped armlift can be adjusted to suit the working height of the arm. The tonearm's internal wiring consists of flexible high-purity copper from the headshell right through to the gold-plated phono jacks.

Order with or without Sumiko Amethyst MM Cartridge

Choose the Superpack version of the 6perspex to get a pre-mounted $599-value Sumiko Amethyst phono cartridge. The Amethyst is Sumiko's flagship Moving Magnet (MM) phono cartridge and requires its own unique cartridge body to maximize the performance of the excellent Nude Line Contact stylus. This exceptional cartridge even surpasses some moving coil cartridges in resolution and detail, setting a new benchmark for moving magnet cartridges with replaceable stylus assemblies.

Easily Sumiko's most ambitious moving-magnet (MM) cartridge to date, the Amethyst complements its nude line-contact stylus with an upgraded generator assembly providing ultra-low noise, breathtaking dynamics, and exceptional trackability. This unique setup takes advantage of the powerful electromotive forces inherent to MM cartridge designs that help give your playback some punch, while still outperforming most comparable moving-coil cartridges.
