Reach the Ultimate Level in Phono Sound
In audiophile gear, a power supply is a very important part of the audio path and significantly contributes to the sonic quality of a component. In order to maximize the sound quality of Pro-Ject's Phono Box RS phono preamplifier and provide optimum isolation from household AC power noise, Pro-Ject designed the Power Box RS Phono with battery power output.
Pure and clean energy is very important whenever low level signals are amplified. A turntable cartridge delivers the lowest signal level of any audio source. The typical level of a low output MC cartridge is only about 0.2mV (a mere 0.0002 volts). Such a low level signal is very vulnerable to all kinds of interferences and noise. So an ultra-quiet battery-powered power supply is a great solution.
Better All Around
When the Power Box RS Phono is connected to Pro-Ject's Phono Box RS and switched on, the adapter and charger are physically disconnected. So the Phono Box RS is completely isolated from any noise or interference associated with your household AC wiring.
An LED on the front panel lets you know the status of the battery. If the battery power has been expended, playback is still possible, but the advantage of completely isolating the Phono Box RS from the AC power supply is lost during the time period while the Power Box RS Phono recharges. But even if the isolation advantage is temporarily unavailable, the battery works as very large filtration bank and the sound is still far better than in case of using the standard power adapter.
So in all cases, you can look forward to a significant sonic improvement when you use the Pro-Ject Power Box RS Phono battery powered outboard power supply with your Phono Box RS preamp.
Advanced Lithium Polymer Batteries
The Power Box RS features advanced Lithium Polymer batteries, one per channel, offering approximately four hours of playback time on a charge. Charging time is approximately four hours. Intelligent micro-processor-controlled charging optimizes battery life.
