The CD Box S3 is the first product of Pro-Ject's new S3 line. The advanced drive enables accurate CD playback. The new DAC chip provides the best digital-to-analog conversion with a bit depth and sampling rate up to 32-bit / 384 kHz. The slot-loading mechanism is smooth and a pleasure to use.

Not only the circuit design has been enhanced, but also the case has been significantly changed and upgraded. The CD Box S3 introduces Pro-Ject's completely new S3 size. Besides the new beautiful full aluminum casework, the CD Box S3 also features a 1.54" display with color inversion function for ultimate readability.

Why Not Just Use Your DVD or Blu-ray Player?

You may wonder why you would want a dedicated CD player if your Blu-ray or DVD player already can play CDs. Your ears will tell you why! The CD Box S3 is engineered for one task and one task only, which is to extract musical information from a compact disc as fully and faithfully as possible. The special drive used in the CD Box S3 is specifically optimized for 1:1 playback of the Red Book CDDA standard. 'Pure CD' players are frequently better than Blu-ray or CD players in playback of stereo CDs, and the CD Box S3 is a superb performer.

Analog and Digital Outputs

The CD Box S3 gives you both analog and digital outputs. Use the internal 32-bit / 384 kHz DAC and connect your CD Box with the RCA line output to the line input of any preamp, integrated amp, or receiver. Should you have your own DAC that you prefer to use, using the S/PDIF coaxial output you can bypass the CD Box S3's internal DAC and connect to your own DAC instead, enjoying the S3 as a high quality CD transport.

Easy-to-Read 1.54" Display

The front panel display of the CD Box S3 is a big improvement over the 'traditional' CD player display. The new 1.54" display is large and easy to read. It shows you all relevant information you need to enjoy your favorite CDs, especially when you use it with the included full-function wireless remote control. A very nice touch is the color inversion function. With the press and hold of a button, switch from normal to inverse color for convenient viewing under different lighting conditions in your listening room.

Rigid Aluminum Housing

Standard sheet metal housings are not resonance-resistant and mechanically accurate enough to mount a sensitive CD drive where the laser position has to be correct all the time. The CD Box S3's aluminum chassis provides a far superior foundation for the CD drive.
