An Easy Way to Improve LP Sound
Vinyl sound can be significantly improved when unwanted resonances between the record and the platter are reduced during playback. To accomplish this, the record and platter surfaces should contact each other tightly. Pro-Ject's Clamp-It record clamp is the answer.
Clamp-It is different from standard record pucks that use weight to achieve this tight contact. Pucks have two disadvantages. First, the necessary weight can induce higher levels of rumble, especially when a puck is used with lower cost turntables which have less effective main bearings. Second, instead of tightening the LP surface to the platter, a heavy record puck can cause the opposite effect; the vinyl will get distorted like a bowl with no contact of the outer edges of the record to the platter. Both of these problems will affect the sound negatively.
The Clamp-It Advantage
Clamp-It is the real solution. True to its name, it has a clamp mechanism around the center spindle and does not add weight, which would induce rumble. You can fine-tune the amount of clamping pressure according to the condition of your records. (Warped records require greater clamping pressure.)
Clamp-It installs in seconds. It will not only please your ears, but its beautifully machined diamond-cut edges will also look extremely cool on any turntable.
