A moving-magnet and moving-coil phono stage takes a turntable directly, with a ground screw on the back. HDMI ARC brings in the television. Optical, coaxial, and RCA line inputs cover everything else, and a USB digital output can feed an outboard DAC instead.

Streaming runs over Gigabit Ethernet or dual-band Wi-Fi with internal antennas. It is Roon Ready, and supports Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, AirPlay, and UPnP. Bluetooth 5.3 handles both SBC and AAC. There is also an RCA pre-out pair and a subwoofer output.

Conversion runs through an AKM AK4493SEQ, from the Velvetsound range. It decodes PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512. The Class D output stage uses a Texas Instruments module, and a PFC-LLC supply feeds it with inrush and overheat protection built in.

The published numbers hold up for a component this small. Distortion measures 0.0037% at 5 watts and 1kHz. Signal-to-noise sits above 109dB, crosstalk reaches minus 108dB, and frequency response runs 20Hz to 20kHz within 0.25dB.

A 5.5-inch color touchscreen fronts the unit, with 24 EQ presets, a 10-band graphic EQ, and a 10-band parametric EQ. The subwoofer output carries full bass management, including crossover frequency, level, and phase.

Automatic room correction runs from your phone's microphone. It is a useful first pass rather than a replacement for Dirac or Anthem, and reviewers have said so plainly. Cooling is passive through heatsink ridges underneath, so there is no fan and no noise.

AJ Wykes reviewed the Play for SoundStage! Simplifi on September 1, 2025. He called it "a compelling streaming integrated amplifier offering connectivity, sound quality, and user control," and said it stands out for "its high-quality touchscreen interface and the Eversolo Control app."

Rogier van Bakel reviewed the CD-equipped version of the same amplifier for Stereophile on January 2, 2026. He wrote that "it won me over in minutes," and found the chassis "pleasantly substantial, with no wobble." He called it a jack-of-all-trades that "makes you smile."

Neither reviewer was uncritical. Wykes found "the user experience could be smoother" and hit "some minor glitches," concluding the software is not yet as robust as the hardware. Van Bakel missed a headphone jack, calling its absence "an odd oversight," and noted the Play ships without a remote.
