Tiny, Compact, Advanced Multi-Room Streamer
Today's market is crowded with lots of wireless streamers. Many of these focus on easy operation with a good app, rather than concentrating on giving you the best sound possible, which is determined by the quality of the DAC and the analog audio output stage.
Pro-Ject has been producing the some of the best micro high-end amps on the market, like the Maia S2 and the Stereo Box S2. For these products, Pro-Ject developed an appropriate excellent streamer to match the sound quality and aesthetics of these amplifiers. That streamer is the Pro-Ject Stream Box S2.
The Stream Box S2 is very easy to use with the Pro-Ject Stream S2 app for iOS and Android, and it has all features of state-of-the-art streamers, including proper multi-room functionality. It offers support for high resolution data up to 24bit / 192kHz, as well as the possibility to connect multiple Stream Box S2s to form a multi-room setup.
High Quality Multi-Room Streaming
The multi-room stream of the Stream Box S2 is CD quality (16 Bit, 44.1 kHz), which, for multi-room applications, is an enormous amount of data providing great audio quality. The possible zones are limited to 10 or 6 (Ethernet or WiFi) to ensure a flawless transmission considering the high data rates. Usually, multi-room devices which offer a high number of zones are data reduced to MP3 quality to ensure a flawless stream, so you get a significant advantage with the CD quality of the Stream Box S2.
Two Stream Box S2 units can be connected to build a stereo pair with assigned left and right channels. If you have active wired speakers, you can turn them into wireless speakers by placing the Stream Box S2 right next to them, connecting with short audio interconnects. You can then freely place the speakers in your room and don't need to worry about long cable lines anymore. This allows you tremendous flexibility.
Three Different Output Types
The Stream Box S2 plays WAV, ALAC, FLAC, MP3, APE, and AAC digital files. Three different output types guarantee compatibility with a wide range of audio gear. A line level RCA output can be connected to a preamplifier for the purest signal, and a dedicated variable output can be connected to active speakers or power amplifiers. Using the optical output, you can pass a digital signal to an external DAC.
The Stream Box S2 comes fully equipped with TIDAL and Spotify support. With the implementation of Shairport, Pro-Ject were even able to give iOS users another possibility to send data to the Stream Box S2. Fans of internet radio will appreciate the ability to tune in the station of your choice with TuneIn and iHeart support.
It also includes PnP and DLNA support and has an analog audio line input, WiFi, and a USB connection, plus an Ethernet connection.
