High Fidelity Turntable with Built in Phono Preamp and Pushbutton Speed Control

"Easy Recommendation" – Michael Fremer, analogplanet.com

The T1 Phono SB turntable from Pro-Ject Audio deliver true high-fidelity sound at a highly affordable price. It boasts premium materials, stylish aesthetics, and a rich, lively sound. And it is packed with features that make it easy to enjoy your vinyl as never before.

The stylish CNC-machined plinth features no plastic parts and is carefully manufactured to eliminate any hollow spaces inside, completely eliminating unwanted vibrations within the chassis.

Carrying this philosophy through the design, the glass platter is also a heavy, zero-resonance design, which avoids the sonic limitations of plastic or lightweight steel designs. It is a heavy 8mm-thick blasted-glass platter with an audiophile felt mat. The purpose-chosen turntable feet also do a good job of isolating the T1 Phono SB from ambient vibrations around your hi-fi system.

    "Everything About This Turntable Impressed"

"Everything about this low cost, full featured Pro-Ject turntable impressed: the design, construction, feature set, measured performance and of course the sound," reports Michael Fremer, analogplanet.com, November 5, 2020. "Plus, it really looks great! Made in the Czech Republic. No plastic parts. Easy recommendation."

Built-in Phono Preamp and Pushbutton Speed Control

Stepping up from the basic T1 model, the T1 Phono SB version includes a built-in, Pro-Ject designed, high-quality MM moving magnet phono stage. This allows you to connect the T1 Phono SB directly to the line-level input of a receiver or integrated amp without the need for an outboard phono preamp.

Speed change is simple, too. Say goodbye to fussing with belts and pulleys. Using Pro-Ject's famous Speed Box electronic speed control, the T1 Phono SB lets you switch between 33 and 45 RPM with the push of a button. For the drive system, where most alternative products may use unregulated DC motors with wide speed fluctuations, the T1 Phono SB features Pro-Ject's proven system of an electronically regulated, precision-speed AC motor.

Pushing Audiophile Design to a New Affordable Level

In the T1 Phono SB, the motor drives a belt-system, attached to a newly designed sub-platter, which is mounted into an ultra-precise 0.001mm tolerance main bearing with a hardened steel axle and brass bushing. This system is the same one that Pro-Ject uses in its coveted Essential III turntables.

The combination of this main bearing with the chosen motor system ensures that the T1 Phono SB provides a smooth, anti-resonant rotational platform for the tonearm and cartridge to travel across.

    New 8.6" Aluminum Tonearm

The tonearm on the T1 Phono SB is a new model, based on previous Pro-Ject designs. With its straight, 8.6” effective length and stiff aluminum construction, this one-piece tonearm also features low-friction bearings for absolute accuracy in use. Besides have a clean and stylish look, the integrated headshell won't cause any additional vibrations, and is a huge improvement over the detachable, screwed-on or glued-on headshells found in most similarly priced turntables.

Includes an Ortofon OM 5E Cartridge

The T1 Phono SB is supplied with a factory installed Ortofon OM 5E Moving Magnet cartridge, which features an elliptical diamond stylus tip. This is a true hi-fi playback system with no corners cut. The turntable is then finished with super shielded, semi-symmetrical, low-capacitance phono cable, purpose-designed by Pro-Ject – not a basic off-the shelf RCA cable. There is also a dust cover for extra protection and a felt mat to protect your records.

The T1 Phono SB is a new affordable marvel. Made in Europe by a turntable factory with decades of experience, it is a true hi-fi turntable that looks and sounds sublime.

The Absolute Sound's 2023 Golden Ear Award Winner

"Overall, the T1 Phono SB sounded great, especially through its built-in phono preamp. Rhythm and pacing were solid, and there was a ton of life and excitement pouring out of the speakers regardless of genre. But where this deck really shines is in the pure value proposition: For $449, listeners can get a true hi-fi turntable with almost all the bells-and-whistles that come with higher-end gear-on that's easily set up and eminently functional. Highly recommended for anyone getting in to vinyl for the first time."
