Pro-Ject's Tube Box DS2 is a precision vacuum tube phono preamplifier that benefits from outstanding circuit technology from Pro-Ject design guru, Dr. Sykora, and uses ultimate audiophile components for superb performance. It is compatible with both MM moving magnet and MC moving coil cartridges. It offers connection for two turntables plus two selectable line outputs.
The continuously variable selection of input impedance for low output MC cartridges while playing a record is a great feature that lets you experiment on the fly with different settings and let you ear decide which setting is best as your vinyl spins away. A large front-panel knob makes changing impedance values a breeze.
As you would expect from the LP experts at Pro-Ject, build quality and design are first rate. For delivering the listening experience intended by the recording studio, the Tube Box DS2 offers vinyl-friendly features, including precise RIAA equalization, ultra low-noise circuitry, and dual mono circuit design for optimized channel separation.
Infinitely Adjustable Impedance Settings
The Tube Box DS2's adjustability features ensure a perfect match with any moving magnet or moving coil phono cartridge. Selectable input impedance for moving coil cartridges provides values of variable 10-1000 ohm settings as well as fixed 47 k Ohms. Input capacitance choices are 100, 220, or 320 pF for moving magnet cartridges. You can also select gain for MM/MC cartridges of 40, 45, 50, 60, or 65 dB. A switchable subsonic filter prevents your amplifier and speakers from experiencing ultra low bass rumble below 20 Hz.
All components including tube output and polypropylene capacitors are audiophile-grade and guarantee a breathtaking sound experience. The DS2's tube complement consists of two ECC83 (12AX7) tubes. Looking for enhanced analog sound? The DS2 is a perfect upgrade for ambitious vinyl lovers.
