    Recommended Component 2024 – Stereophile

Mono Tube Amp with Brute Power, Musicality, and Accuracy

With the success of the DragoN Stereo Amp, Rogue Audio was looking to make a defining statement with its award winning tube/Class D hybrid amplifiers, and the DragoN Monoblock Amplifier was born. These mono amps blend brute power with musicality, finesse, and accuracy. They can authoritatively control virtually any loudspeakers.

These new amplifiers are much more than simply a tube circuit placed in front of a class D output section. Rogue Audio's proprietary tubeD circuit topology actually integrates the tube section into the amplifier, yielding the smooth natural sound that only a tube amp can provide.

    "Recommended Component" Honors

Stereophile honored the DragoN Mono Amp by awarding it the magazine's coveted Recommend Component status for 2024.

According to Stereophile, "JD used a pair of Rogue DragoNs to power his ESS hybrid-electrostatic loudspeakers and concluded that the monoblocks unveiled new takes on his favorite recordings. 'The class-D power and dynamics spoke to the younger me, who craves those overwhelming sensations that result, above all, from loudness, and the today me who appreciates the DragoNs' excellence at bringing less dynamic music to life at lower volumes, offering me considerable pleasure within the constraints of everyday real life.'"

"JA concluded that the Rogue DragoN's measured performance is dominated by the use of a tube in the input stage. 'This amplifier offers high power,' he wrote, 'but with high levels of second-harmonic distortion.'"

"Exceptional Gear the Average Person Can Afford"

"The DragoN and M-180 [monoblocks], are very reasonably priced, given their performance and build quality. As with other models, a small price increase for upgrades yields even more impressive results. With so much high-end audio moving into the financial stratosphere, it’s reassuring to know there’s a brand that wants to make exceptional gear that the average person can afford, reports Joseph Taylor, soundstagexperience.com, July 2024.

    Stunning Dynamics and Transparency

A case in point are the DragoN Monoblocks. With uncanny accuracy the DragoN Monoblocks deliver stunning dynamics and transparency without any of the edgy, etched, or grainy sound that often accompanies solid state designs.

A low power standby mode allows critical components to remain on and fully warmed up without wasting electricity or tube life. A slow start feature allows the tubes to warm up gradually to eliminate turn-on noise and greatly extend tube life. Three massive linear power supplies are used to power the amplifier circuitry, and ultra-high quality parts are used throughout the amplifier. Combined with their stunning appearance, you can be certain that you are investing in an amplifier that truly represents the very leading edge of audio technology.

    Hand-Wired, Ultra-High-Quality Parts

Additionally, ultra-high-quality parts are used exclusively throughout the design for the highest quality performance and reliability. These components are hand-wired to a heavy, two-ounce copper circuit board. Connections consist of both balanced XLR inputs and single ended RCA inputs, along with heavy-duty gold plated binding posts.

Designed and Hand Built in the USA

The DragoN Monoblocks are entirely designed and hand built in the USA. Each amp is individually fully tested, burned-in, and auditioned, assuring you of great sound right out of the box. It comes with a three-year manufacturer's limited warranty from Rogue Audio (six months on the tubes).
