This is a heavy tungsten counterweight for Rega tonearms that can actually yield improved sonic performance due the higher density of the tungsten.
The higher density makes for a smaller diameter weight, which places the mass closer the centerline of the arm tube improving tracking and balance. The smaller diameter of the tungsten weight can provide extra clearance inside a turntable dust cover, too.
