"Unbeatable" New Rega Turntable with Advanced Materials and Engineering Solutions
Rega's Planar 6 turntable has one goal, to reproduce your vinyl as accurately as possible. Rega has engineered every aspect of this turntable to extract as much detail from the vinyl surface as possible. Advanced materials and engineering solutions have been used throughout the design to ensure the greatest level of performance.
Among the many winning features of the Planar 6 is the Neo PSU power supply unit. Neo 6 offers electronic speed change, advanced anti-vibration control and user adjustable electronic fine speed adjustment that has only been found on the RP10 until now.
"It's sometimes easy to say 'that's just an upgraded so-and-such,' but what Rega has accomplished with the Planar 6 requires far higher praise… This turntable is unbeatable," reports soundorg.com, July 24, 2017. "It makes us scratch our heads. How do they keep doing this? Bravo, Rega!"
Exclusive Ultra-Lightweight Tan-Cast 8 Plinth
The Planar 6 is built around the huge success of the RP8 and RP10 turntables. It is the first new Rega turntable to be constructed with an ultra-lightweight Tan-Cast 8 polyurethane foam core plinth (a material developed for the aerospace industry). This material is sandwiched between a new HPL (high pressure laminate). HPL is exceptionally thin while extremely rigid – and it is presented in a stunning Polaris matt grey finished with high gloss polymer black edge trim.
Rega’s double brace technology uses an integral custom matched aluminum tonearm and hub pillars to ensure maximum rigidity and accuracy.
High-Stability Neo PSU with Electronic Speed Change
The Neo PSU uses the RP10 DSP (digital signal processing) generator built upon a high stability crystal. The DSP generator will divide the accurate signal from the crystal to the exact frequency required to turn the platter at the selected speed. The DSP generator will also produce a near perfect sinusoidal waveform to drive the motor. This, along with an efficient drive amplifier, generates a 24-volt AC balanced signal of less than 0.15% distortion, which is completely unaffected by any changes in the mains/line voltage and conditions. This drives the turntables anti-vibration circuit, which is situated beneath the turntable.
Breakthrough RB330 Tonearm
Designed using the latest 3D CAD & CAM technology, the new RB330 is the culmination of more than 35 years of Rega tonearm design experience. A brand new bearing housing joins forces with Rega's latest tonearm tube, which was designed using intelligent redistribution of mass, ensuring that this arm will exhibit fewer points of possible resonance. Extreme stability with almost friction-free movement from the new high precision bearing assemblies will gather more information from your vinyl than ever before.
Features aplenty include a new bias assembly, a redesigned stiffer vertical bearing housing, an integrated arm clip, and an improved spring housing with easier to read numbers. The arm also boasts a new Rega-made low capacitance phono cable with Neutrik plugs, improved lower friction precision horizontal and vertical bearings, and a newly designed 100g (3.5 oz.) milled steel balance weight.
Even More Fabulous Features
The Planar 6 also benefits from a single piece, machined aluminum sub-platter, a new 24-volt motor hand tuned and matched to its own NEO power supply, and a custom drive pulley fitted with our upgrade drive belt as standard. It also comes with a new 'smoked' dust cover, new aluminum foot trims, and Planar style feet.
Exact2 Moving Magnet Phono Cartridge
If you have exacting standards when it comes to analog music reproduction, the Rega Exact 2 MM phono cartridge will more than satisfy.
The original model Exact was a Stereophile"Recommended Component" in 2001. The magazine praised its explosive, energetic sound, breathtaking midrange purity, and transient snap."
The Exact 2 has an output of 6.8 - 7.2mV and uses a Vital stylus, which is complex fine line micro-ground from a rectangular diamond billet. High-specification parallel wound coils contribute to the superior sound quality. The mount relies on Rega’s three-point system.
