The S3-5 provides a nice step up from S2 Series racks, thanks to S3 Series enhancements. These include support tubes containing damping material for added resonance control plus an increase in weight capacity of 132 lb. per shelf versus 110 lb. per shelf for S2 Series racks.
Additionally, the S3-5 rack provides a bottom shelf (shelf #4) with 9.6" of usable height compare to 8.9" between the other shelves, allowing you to use the bottom shelf for a larger component or even a stack of gear.
Supports A System's Worth Of Components
The S3-5 holds a system's worth of components. The outer dimensions are 35.6" high, 23" wide, and 16.9" deep. The top platform has a usable width of 23" and usable depth of 16.9". The usable shelf width of shelves #2, #3, and #4 is 19.7" with a usable depth of 16.9". The usable height between shelves #1 and #2, and between #2 and #3 is 8.9" - and between shelves #3 and #4 is 9.6". The assembled rack weighs 59.2 lb.

Solid Shelving And 'Filled' Aluminum Supports

Because no matter how much you spend on your gear, you're wasting your money if your gear isn't resting on a support mechanism that provides isolation, rock-solid stability, and vibration-free performance.
The S3-5 boasts rigid MDF shelves and new, non-welded aluminum tubular supports. Aluminum is lighter than steel, ridiculously strong, non-magnetic, and an excellent damping material. By eliminating welding from the equation, S2 racks eliminate resonances that develop in hollow welded posts. Unwanted energy and vibrations cannot seep into your rack.
And speaking of damping, the aluminum tubular supports are filled with damping material to reduce resonance and room vibrations that can compromise the quality of music reproduction. Solidsteel's adjustable stainless steel spike feet are included for another degree of isolation and to provide convenient leveling. Protective floor discs are also included.
