"Imaging Characteristics Were Flawless"
The SS-5 is the most compact member of Solidsteel's historical flagship SS speaker stand series. It's an ideal choice for coaxing the best performance from bookshelf and monitor speakers. The unique tripod design provides exceptional stability and rigidity.
"The build quality leaves nothing to be desired," reports Knuth Zensen, fidelity-magazine.com. "The speakers sounded clear, defined, with dry and powerfully bouncy low frequencies. Imaging characteristics were flawless."
"I've used stands by Solid Steel, Target, Foundation, and Ikea, homebuilt ones from Eames chair bases… I personally think these Solid Steel stands are cool. They're super stable, too, in use," notes JohnVF in his August 15, 2023 review of SS Series stands for hifihaven.org.
Getting The Right Stand For Your Speakers
It is of critical importance for the performance of bookshelf and monitor-type loudspeakers to position them at the correct height. Additionally, since these types of speaker are often relatively lightweight compared to floorstanding units, they require support that has high stability and rigidity. Decoupling is another important factor.
Solidsteel's SS-5 stand provides proper support at the desired height, and it excels in offering isolation from room vibration that can compromise sound quality. You may not realize what you're missing from you speakers until you place them on a pair of SS-5 stands.
The SS-5 stand is 21" tall with top plate dimensions of 7.5" x 7.5" and bottom dimensions of 13" x 12.20". each stand weighs 24.7 lb.
Bringing Out The Best In Monitor Speakers Since 1992
The Solidsteel SS Series offers an optimum solution for the proper setup and enjoyment of monitor speakers, and these must in many ways be considered as important as the units they support.
The three tubular supports are terminated with a crimped steel bar for maximum strength. The included stainless steel spikes are removable to allow the frame to be filled with damping material.
The MDF top plate is interchangeable with different-size top plates in the SS Series, ensuring a high degree of optimization with the largest number of loudspeakers. Decoupling between the chassis and the shelf is achieved through three high precision steel ball bearings that sit on top of each of the legs. The spike feet provide additional decoupling from room vibration.
Unique, Time-Tested Tripod Design
These legendary speaker stands dates back to 1992 and were designed by Solidsteel founder Moreno Conti.
These unique tripods are assembled through a traditional brass welding process performed by expert hands. It's a time-consuming process. The average production time of a single piece is about 15 minutes, once all the parts are already prepared for processing. The hand-built characteristics make the SS stands inimitable and super strong.
The stands are supplied with Pata-fix® removable bonding compound to properly fix the speakers to the top plate.
