"A Phenomenal Value"
The Woo Audio WA2 is a high performance headphone amplifier that's perfect for even the most power hungry headphones. It uses a singled-ended triode, 'Class A' all-tube-drive OTL (output transformer-less) design for pristine sound quality.
"We're used to the sound of our most highly rated headphones through our existing, impressive-in-their-own-right amplifiers, but the WA2 breathes phenomenal new life into even the greatest headphones on the planet," reports Nate Lanxon at CNET.co.uk. "Highly recommended."
"One of the Most Musically Involving I Have Heard"
"As a headphone amplifier, WA2 is one of the most musically involving amplifiers I have heard, and for the price, awfully close to the state-of-the-art," notes Linden Park, EnjoyTheMusic.com. "It may be unparalleled among the products in the marketplace now and represents a phenomenal value."
"Iron-Fisted Control of Any Headphone"
"The Woo Audio WA2 headphone amplifier-preamp is one of the highlights of the year. It's quiet beyond the normal noise floor, lifelike musically, soldered by hand, very nicely designed, and fairly priced," notes Matej Isak in a December 2010 review at MonoAndStereo.com.
"[The WA2] has iron-fisted control of any headphone I throw at it, and most importantly – it communicates with me and my emotions," marvels xenithon at head-fi.org.
Meticulously Made Inside and Out
The WA2 is a high quality, meticulously made product inside and out that uses point-to-point wiring throughout its construction. It uses a premium 120-watt toroidal power transformer for quiet, dependable operation with an individual filter choke and rectifier per channel. An Alps potentiometer and power switch plus silver plated Teflon wires add to the performance.
The casework boasts an aluminum die-cast chassis with an anodized finish along with aluminum volume knobs and power switch button.
For smooth, rich audiophile performance, you can't beat the sound of vacuum tubes. The WA2's tube complement consists of two 6AS7/6080 power tubes, two 6922/6DJ8 drive tubes, and two EZ80 rectification tubes.
"Worth Every Single Bit of Its Price"
"I have had various solid-state amps and a modded X-Cans that I still use daily in my office, but this is the first headphone amp I have owned that made me feel like I was in the middle of the music.," raves KillerB, head-fi.org, April 7, 2022
"I’ve very much enjoyed the company of the Woo Audio WA2," observes longtime headphonia.com reviewer Lieven. "My love for this terrific sounding and looking amplifier has only grown from the day it got here… If you have made it to the end of this review I am sure it is clear this Woo Audio 2 is a great piece of equipment and it is worth every single bit of its price."
"The bass is well defined and generous and reaches deep. Highs are crisp and clear, mids are clear and delicate," notes ardilla at head-fi.org.

"Tender, Full Bodied, Lush"
"The WA2 is tender, more full-bodied, polite, lush. It delivers quite a bit of wattage, and I find it to be a good match for the planars/orthos I have tried," observes the Headphoneer at headphoneer.com, April 24, 2023.
Chris Allen at head-fi.org notes, "I really enjoyed this amp overall and would recommend it as a starting point for anybody looking to get into more serious tube amps. So far this has been my favorite Woo product build quality is 2nd to none."
"The WA2 is among the better headphone amps available. It actually surprises me that it's not even more popular than it is," concludes Skylab, also at head-fi.org.
Note: This latest version of this headphone amp no longer features RCA outputs and the output selector. It cannot be switched over to act as a preamp.
